PRES. BUSH'S SCORECARD, GOALS, & AGENDA (SAVE for use against Bush Bashers)
It is becoming clear that 'W' and Karl Rove saw the big picture when they assessed all that's wrong and needed fixing from a conservative perspective. Many of these policies/decisions haven't received much attention. And not all are in the 'completed' column. Yet.
1) Change the tone, bring character back into the equation...did that, even if not reciprocal.
2) Judicial system....did that, we're in charge of judicial committee next month and we'll see the end of judges who enjoy inventing new law.
3) Reorganize bureaucracy...after 9/11, seized the opportunity to condense 20+ overlapping agencies. Difficult, but who better to fix this mess than 'W', Cheney, Rummy?
4) Fix budgeting procedures....they've replaced several Pubbie porkers (The Cardinals) who gamed the budget process to invariably load up last minute legislation.(http://www.humaneventsonline.com/articles/07-22-02/jeffrey.htm) An intriguing story...check it out.
5) A litmus test for foreign aid...did that...The 'Millenium Challenge' is similar to Rush's 'excrement list. It's a "Use our aid against us and you're toast" kinda' thing.
6)Taxes...did that and more to come. When it is demonstrated once and for all that tax cuts increase revenues, the implications are beyond huge. Reagan's same tax cut message gets spun as ineffective because spending wasn't cut as Congress promised. This could be big, forever.
7) Social security...the so called "third rail of politics" was a winning plank of several midterm races, and the young people of America like the idea. It will happen, once explained properly.
8) Challenged 'irrelevant' United Nations...UN in the process of confirming it, for all to see.
9) Racism...White House nudged T-Lo to stand down as Sen. Maj. Ldr., thus defusing a favorite and lethal weapon of race-baiting Dems. "Republicans act, on our problems, in contrast to Dems."
10) Improving govt. efficiency with .8 million jobs put up for bid...weakening unions and cutting undeserved pay raises. Wants merit based promotions/raises.
11) Out smarting the Democrats ...I was astounded when we watched 'W' and Rove play Daschle like a fiddle, controlling the debate leading into mid-terms, literally twisting them in the wind, forcing the Dems to ask for a debate on war that they didn't want, could not win, and knew they could not win, but did anyway ! These guys are good! 12) Education... We know how he feels and where he wants to go re: education/vouchers/school choice which, btw, will further expose Democratic racism.IMHO......
No adminstration has had the foresight to tackle or the skill to achieve these MUST DO'S. I have complete confidence in the direction this administration is headed...they'll solve immigration, even if it means annexing some Mexican borderlands. (hey..I like that one)Tort reform, & abortion are on deck.
We held our noses at some compromises made to win all 3 branches of govt., but that's politics. Let's see what happens now. Several moves ie; 1)T-Lo's demotion, 2)The Cardinals removal, 3)refusal to bail out Speaker Hastert's buddies at United Airlines speaks loudly that right is right, whether its Republican or Democrat.
The administration must now speak LOUDLY for these issue, but I believe they now can and will show more courage than was possible and prudent coming out of the 2000 elections. The people are in place, common sense ideas are in place...and I've joined 'W's chorus.

Agreed. Re: social security, imho, personal SS accounts will be the answer. Sununu and Dole? ran on the issue and won. Gen-X, I hear, wants in on the action, now. Once it's explained as
1) voluntary,
2) a miniscule portion of existing SS contributions
3)not affecting current accounts
and 4) !!!! adding TONS of money to yours and my retirement accounts
....it will be accepted and implemented. Which, btw, will help the various financial markets big time. Once we properly explain the plan (something we never do well--on any issue) this one will be a cake walk. imho. And NOW is the time to do it, following the dot.com bursted bubble. History and the odds say it should be a while before another down turn.

"...if your one-note issue isn't addressed here, please give it a rest for a while." NO FReepin' way, my FRiend...for those of us who believe Dubyuh over-compromised on Education, Import Tariffs, and--perhaps--the Patriot Act, it's time for US to get as loud as we can as long as we can and let the RATS know that Dubyuh is TheGreatCompromiser as he triangulates between US RadicalRightWingWhackos and the MilqueToastModerateRINOwing of the GOP!!
The RATS, of course, are IRRELEVANT!!

The Patriot Act... Isn't that the law that ARMS PILOTS and BANS a national ID card?
No wonder so many "right-wingers" hate it. < /SARCASM >

Definitely must add ABA face-slap, nucleur reductions, Beck union 'political' dues/contributions, and several
environmental corrections/policies.
Just read last week that Christie EPA will relax
some ridiculous water run-off restrictions which are nearly impossible to enforce. Probably another one of Clinton's 'presents' left on his last day in office for 'W'. Pass the headache!

"I actually don't know what 'W' and Rove had to do with it, but it smells like 'em.""A gang of conservatives caught the College of Cardinalsthe ever-arrogant chairmen of the 13 House Appropriations subcommitteesin the act of pick-pocketing taxpayers. They promptly made a citizens arrest. Heres how they did it: The Cardinals are a pork-barrel cartel that conspires each year to rip-off taxpayers with unnecessary spending. They have tried-and-true tactics for doing so. First among these is setting up a schedule for appropriations bills that facilitates lying and cheating. Specifically, they always save the biggest, potentially most-pork-laden bill for last. That is the bill for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services and Education. These are agencies that both Democrats and "moderate" Republicans always want to massively increase. All of Washington knows that as fall approachesespecially in an election yearthe political pressure to dump pork into this bill can become overwhelming. With this bill last, appropriators pass out bills for smaller departments first. They heap these high with spending the President has not requested and that was not approved in the House budget resolution. They are not really busting that budget, they claim, because they intend to pay for this early pork by carving money later out of Labor-HHS-Education or other big bills at the end of the session. Appropriators are like Wimpy in the Popeye cartoon. They are always saying, "Ill gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today." It is a transparent lie. Rep. David Obey (D.-Wis.), a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, admitted as much last Tuesday. "[I]n essence," he said, "we have a charade."
"And the Cardinals have ways of dealing with members who wont participate in the charade. They can cut funding for projects in a congressmans district, or increase it when he has a change of heart. But this year the appropriators ran into something new: a Band of Conservatives Who [SHALL] NOT Cower!! They started as a Gang of Four from among the members of the conservative Republican Study Committee (RSC). Pat Toomey (Pa.) was the prime mover, joined by Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Mike Pence (Ohio) and John Shadegg (Ariz.), chairman of the RSC. They devised a strategy to counter the Cardinals."
I'd like to think Dubyuh's in good with the GangofFour; however, even if he wasn't before, he should be now...we need to see REAL, SIGNIFICANT, non-inflation-adjusted DECREASES IN SPENDING in each of the agencies noted above!!

That's the point, Mud, the right wing will carry the day,
but some of the agenda takes more than 2 years.
Please see my "held our noses" comment. What did compromises get us? Control of House, Senate, & White House, with Judicial Branch in safe hands for a decade or more.
I've got lots to bitch about, and you mentioned most of 'em, but these guys are goin' our way, baby!

[to paraphrase our Loony Right]
I'm sooooo mad. Why, he hasn't done any of these things, and unless he is 100% in lockstep with me, I won't vote for him (of course I voted for Phillips/Browne/nobody last time, so I could have a clear conscience).
1. He isn't pro-life, because he hasn't made all abortionists and their coconspirators criminals by executive order, nor has he pushed for any laws punishing all past abortion providers and recipients.
2. He wants to amalgamate with Mexico by failing to lay anti-personnel land mines all along the border and refusing to execute illegal immigrants.
3. He is anti American/Western/Christian heritage by failing to push for flying the Confederate flag instead of the multiculturalist PC American flag.
4. He is anti-RKBA because he says I can't drive down the road with a bazooka, and actually wants to keep Aryan Brotherhood members in prison disarmed.

"What did compromises get us? Control of House, Senate, & White House, with Judicial Branch in safe hands for a decade or more." Perhaps...but that still remains debated, IMHO. Did compromise win the day?! Or would've boldly promoting and defending our Values via the legislation process accomplished even more?! Maybe we'll never know because the GOP's always been sorta SCAIR'T to BOLDLY do anything...LOL!!

G'mornin' Slim. Thanx for the ping. I read this thread early and failed to follow up with monitoring.
There's a couple of new groups laying the groundwork to come out with the Conservative side of things. I am only guardedly optomistic about their potential for success. There is just too much competition for money to fund this stuff and the mainstream conservative tends to donate to a political party or candidate rather than to the Activist groups.
I'll try to remember to keep you posted on what I learn after our first meeting and I will summon you (and others) for an audience when I'm in town for a strategy session.

"There is just too much competition for money to fund this stuff and the mainstream conservative tends to donate to a political party or candidate rather than to the Activist groups." I'm loosely-affiliated with Stephen Moore's "ClubFerGrowth" and we've got some major successes to crow about from last month, so I reckon we'll just keep on truckin' and see where the bodies fall. As for donating to a particular Party...I'll NEVER do it again, IMHO. I cannot think about how disgusted I'd be if any of my money ever made its way to RINO-Jawn Warner or Jumpin' Jim Jeffords or McStainiac, so I'll never give again to the Republican Senate Committee...but I'll give my hard-earned cash to my Senator George Allen in a heartbeat!!

Trent Lott: Victim of a Hate Crime
Patrick J. Buchanan
When the official autopsy is performed on the corpse of Trent Lott, it will be revealed that he died of a stab wound that came from above. This time, Caesar knifed Brutus.
Before a black audience in Philadelphia, Bush rose to declare in piety and self-righteousness, "Recent comments by Sen. Lott do not reflect the spirit of our country. He has apologized and rightly so. Every day that America was segregated was a day that America was unfaithful to our ideals."
Thus did the president join those who had placed the most malign construction on Lott's ill-chosen but innocent words of tribute to Strom Thurmond and throw Lott, a loyalist who has hauled water for him for two years on the Hill, to the wolves.
A controversy that had been fading away was resuscitated and raised to world headlines. And with his own president declaring him a shameful sinner, Trent Lott had to apologize and beg "forbearance and forgiveness" of those who had sought to smear and destroy him.

You know, George Walker Bush reminds me of the guy who was given CinCPAC Operational Plan 29-42.
Poohbah, would you care to explain WHO got that document, the contents of that Operational Plan, and the results?
