I agree with you. Yet the only way to avoid it is to actually GO TO a site such as LewRockwell.com and read these pieces directly. As I usually do.
(I am reading the current 300-odd replies as one of my occasional exercises in intellectual pathology. The myth that FReepers oppose the intrusive and abusive State is thoroughly disproved every day.)
Anger is not a felony. Or a misdemeanor. We have become so fearful and paranoic that any natural human reaction -- generosity, kindness, defense of our highest values -- has become suspect. Soon we'll resemble the unsmiling "human" robots that I saw walking on the streets of East Berlin a quarter-century ago, not taking a second look at the "militiamen" slinging an AK-47 on every third street corner.
We are not enslaved. We enslave ourselves.
And from my own, personal perspective it's all over nothing anyway. That's the most frustrating part.
I swear, I wish these people could see what goes on and the kind of employees they are defending when they just put blind trust in "airport security" to "do the right thing"
It's more ridiculous than I can describe. BUT, it makes people feel safe and that's what they want.

I know what you mean. Occasionally, I'll check to see how FR's "preservers of the constitutional republic" are responding when an especially outrageous horror story is in the news. The Freeper response never fails to be more outrageous than the original horror story itself.
