Son of Doomonyou got an A- for his effort. His teacher, of course, disagreed with him on every point and probably gave the grade though gritted teeth.

The only help he got from me was my copy of "More Guns, Less Crime", a handful of Pro second amendment links, and a couple from the gun control dogs.

Oh yeah, we go hunting or shooting whenever possible.

Your son did well, and so have you. Only one minor quible. A brief discussion of natural law would be helpful - explain how the founding fathers believed that inalienable rights came from God, which is why the BOR enumerates rather than grants rights. Molon labe.

I think he could have gotten an A+ with the following revisions:

The idea of taking away the right of people to own and bear arms has gone back, to near 1900.

Gun control goes back to when guns were first invented (see Japan before Perry and the Battles of Lexington and Concord). Weapon control goes to the very dawn of man (how many slaves of the Romans owned a sword?).

The constitution goes on to say “that the right to …bear arms…shall not be infringed.”

It actually says "the right OF THE PEOPLE" - makes for a much stronger argument.

Add to the list of dates for "modern" times of gun control and genocide: Cuba, Rwanda and Sudan

Good point, I didn't see it before he gave the speech. I can see him mentioning guns AND God in class and his teacher popping a vein. He is well aware of his God given rights.

I am well aware of the aneurysm provoking potential of mentioning God and guns in the same breath to an academic. I work in a community college and we have stacks full of socialists here. There are a few of us normal folks, though, and we do our best:)

Noted, I told him I would print this thread and he could read it and all the additional good points made!

I said it before and I'll say it again.

Liberals (I.E., Communists/socialists) don't care about the truth. We can keep on attempting to inform them about the truth, but they don't care about the truth. All they want to do is disarm the people.
Thats their only agender.

No matter what we say or do to try and convince them is like beating a dead horse. We must fight them like any other enemy. We must defeat liberalism at all costs or we'll never, ever truly know liberty.

Just a few comments, to make an A+ next time.

Constitution and Bill of Rights should be capitalized. "Intuiting" is not "instituting." The crime rates there are unbelievably low! So you do the math.

He seemed to have lots of stats, until he got to Switzerland. What happened?

And "so you do the math" is not appropriate in an essay. Try "the truths are self-evident."

Right.

It was a speech, not an essay. "Intuiting" was a typo. (I checked with him.)
