By the way, the rumors of my demise were apparently premature.
Welcome back!

It seems that many have been bamboozled into thinking the current GOP is a pro-life party. For example - Would Frist be approved if he invested in an organization that discriminated against blacks? Well no, because the GOP is not a racist party.

It's like Bush says, the GOP is either for life, or against life. Right now the GOP had no problem with appointing pro-abortionists and claiming to be a pro-life party. They have to walk the talk or in Lott's case - walk the plank.

I'm an "evil Christian, holier-than-thou, pro-lifer" ...

I meant "What do you do to make money?" Do you just print it, or do you have to engage in some kind of commerce to aquire it?

I'm sure you know that as an evil attorney I am setting you up for the kill.

What a disaster this guy will be. Pro-life helps win an election, and as usual it looks like the REpublicans won't do a single pro-life thing. If this guy is truly the man Rove is pushing for the post, what a disaster Rove is. Hasn't met a pro-abort republican he couldn't find a position for somewhere. I like George Bush, but Rove is our Dick Morris, no values except power. I don't know if I can vote for a team with this man on it.

Nickols dropped out. That means (1) he knows he doesn't have the support to win, or (2) there are skeletons we don't know about, or (3) he does not want the job, or (4) he wants a different job.

President Bush is a moderate conservative. So am I. I am not a Rino. Within our own fold we can talk about those who range from liberal to conservative as republicans and have some integrity about the discussion.

Jeffords was a liberal republican. Jesse Helms was a strongly conservative republican. I'd put Chaffee, Snow, Spector, etc. and their ilk on the liberal side. Frist is not one of them. His voting record is conservative...not liberal.

Ronald Reagan believed in exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother. It's simply a fact.

Yeah, it's amazing how Bush clamors for the conservative voters and when he gets them he repays their faithfulness by stabbing them in the back with moderate/liberal choices for leaders.

I supported him on the war on terror, but I think he's starting to overstep a little. I voted for less Gov involvement in American lives - not snoop machines at every door. Go ahead and fight terror, but don't start fighting normal American citizens, too.
On national issues, if I wanted Gore I'd have voted for him! To me, Bush is a socialist on national issues.
If a Republican primary were held today, I'd vote for the other guy.
If presidential elections were held today, I'd simply vote against the Democrat. It's only 4 years we'd have to hold our breath.
I'm a political and social conservative. I hold those I vote for to a high standard. If they "fall from grace (lie to me)", they lose my support forever.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!

I am fully confident that when the House sends the ban on PBA over to the Senate, Frist will get it done and Bush will sign it. Until there is a Super Majority of Pro-Life Senators or more USSC Justices sympathetic to life, a ban on PBA is the first, incremental step. And, it will happen before '04 or you can kiss the Senate and WH goodbye. Anyone that thinks I'm joking had better check history and see what happened the last few times the pro-life crowd wasn't engergized and stayed home.

Incrementalism works for the communists on the left, so lets take this step and keep working. Lord knows, the bedrock of my politicking is my faith - and I have several hot button issues which I have prioritized - life being number 1.

I will quote my esteemed fellow FReeper tomahawk:

"If Frist becomes Majority Leader, we have a good shot of holding the Senate, confirming pro-life judges, and reducing the number of abortions. If Lott stays, we probably lose the Senate, fewer pro-life judges get confirmed, and the killing spree continues unabated. Hmmmm, which is a better choice?"

FRIST!

I'm starting to wonder myself.

It's my birthday, and I'm off in a couple of minutes to meet my sons. Won't be back to enjoy this wonderful debate at all today.

Lott stepping down is a great birthday present, but the GOP leadership is showing their infinite capacity for taking an opportunity and squandering it by coronating Bill Frist as ML.

President Bush is a moderate conservative. So am I. I am not a Rino.

According to Rush, a "moderate" is someone who doesn't believe in anything in general, therefore having no principles except compromise.
