12 is 84 in dog years, 10 years older than the average human life expectancy. These poodle mixes are a pox on society as it is.

The judge said two of the 12 years were for the dog, Ribsy. So many seem to have jumped from the headline into the frying pan.
Jeffrey Dahmer started out crucifying animals and wound up eating humans.
The perp in this case claims to have "lost it"--lost what?
He might have killed the woman had police not intervened.
Rather than work and be taxed to pay his room and board, weight room and phone sex bills, color teevee and law library, it would have been more succinct for SWAT to have made him part of the patio 23 floors below.
Animal abuse? It's taxpayer abuse.

12yr sentance = 3 to 5 years max.

There's no such thing as "dog years". The life span of very small dogs is more than twice that of very large dogs. The little yappy things fairly often reach 20, while mastiffs, Great Danes, and the other giant breeds almost never reach 10.

I had a Golden Retriever live EIGHTEEN years. But that was over twenty years ago, back before they were quite as inbred.

I'm a huge animal rights activist but this has got to be the reason all of our prisons are overcrowded.
I don't think so. I was looking at the grand jury indictments for the city in today's newspaper. There must have been forty indictments. Nine out of ten were for possession of a controlled substance.

Bob, an experienced sky diver, was getting ready for a jump one day when he spotted another man outfitted to dive wearing dark glasses, carrying a white cane and holding a seeing-eye dog by a extremely long leash.
Shocked that the blind man was also going to jump, Bob struck up a conversation, expressing his admiration for the man's courage.
Then, curious, he asked, "How do you know when the ground is getting close and you need to pull the ripcord?" "Easy," replied the blind man. "The leash goes slack."

Jefferson's lawyer, Russell Paisley, said his client's actions were those of someone under the influence of drugs. Which is why people shouldn't do drugs. But Jefferson is still responsible for his actions while under the influence of drugs. Lock him up.

A man in Ithaca recently slit his dog's throat, left it to die and only got three years probation.Oy.
