Today America supports a racialist value system for minorities while demanding a democratic expansion of the white imagination. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus can embrace "blackness" and demand government preferences exclusively for their race. Remove the double standard and Trent Lott looks perfectly innocent by comparison.

But in the end a man cannot be redeemed by a moral equivalence. That those who ask Sen. Lott to imagine beyond his race do not do so themselves is no consolation.

Shelby Steele's article "Of Race and Imagination." I pinged you to it. If we want to have a more lengthy debate on this -- and I'm game if you are -- that's probably a thread more on-topic than Freeper's Finest. The question isn't whether we have the best solutions -- we do. The question is how to persuade others to join us.

Conservatives have to to take off the gloves and call out the 'ratbastards on each and every one of their lies - enough's enough.

We've done that -- but what African Americans want to know and will listen to is why we're better. Not just why the Democrats are playing race cards and race-baiting. But what is it about *us* that makes us better.

As a trial lawyer, just in terms of persuading people, I was always taught that you don't make your case on cross-examination. You make it on direct. You defend it on cross-examination. We have to show why we're Right, not just why they're wrong. Again, I hold up Jeb Bush as a successful role model for this.

I see the Ex-Creep president is in the news bad mouthing the Republicans. Clinton "IS" the first black president, he should know about race issues, right?

Why conservatism is better than lying dim/lib/'ratism:

1. We rely on the truth, not lies.
2. We value freedom for all.
3. We understand that government exists through force.
4. We believe in the G*d of Abraham and His Son Jesus Christ, not Allah, not Buddha, and not mother nature.
5. We believe in the scanctity of the home,our families, our property, and our country.
6. We will kick your ass if you mess with #5.
7. We believe that you may choose to succeed or fail in this life.
8. We believe that you alone are responsible for the choices you make.
9. We believe in helping those physically or mentally unable to help themselves.
10. We know that there is good and that there is evil, and that we choose to be good instead of evil.

There's my top ten list.

Good top 10, my FRiend...and although we needn't debate the issue on this thread, I think #4 can be reworked slightly and still remain true, becuz I see no difference why a Muslim or a Buddhist or a Vegetarian cannot be Conservative regardless to whose words they accept as gospel.
