Yes I am enjoying Va, the weather has been a little cold but nothing like Barfallo.

I don't miss the snow at all. We had 5 inches a couple of weeks ago, and as far as I'm comcerned that is enough. The kids were able to get in some snow boarding out in our yard so, they are liking it here a little more now.

My aplologies for not having today's VN helicopter pilots casualty list posted. It's been a hectic day beginning at 2:30 AM when we got up to catch our flight out of DFW to Minneapolis and on to Rapid City, SD for the holidays with my oldest son and his family. I sent the list here by email but the attachment never made it. So I will have to reconstruct it tomorrow to post with that list. Other than that it has been a pleasant trip and the entire ladtx family will be together again for Christmas. Merry Christmas to everyone and we'll be in touch from this cold north country.

You bring memories to my mind, ladtx.

In 1961, I arrived in Rapid City with my sons 6 & 7 on Christmas Eve, my husband in SAC.

Managed to have a daughter September 30th - few days later, the Cuban Missile crisis began, and the day after Christmas of 1962, we left to drive over the Alaska Highway to Fairbanks, Alaska!

You can do anything when you are young - the boys were then 7 & 8, baby 2 months old, two dogs, mind you, in a loaded station wagon.
Legions of angels got us there on January 6, 1963, going around the end of the Rocky Mountains and to the interior.

Rapid City was God's idea of a 'warmup' for Fairbanks for this Florida gal!

By the way, while we're discussing conservative books, perhaps you're interested in Michael Graham's new book, Redneck Nation. It's written from a conservative perspective and it shows how the intolerance that the North rightly criticized the South for more than 40 years ago is now being weirdly replicated by an intolerant Northern Yankee culture that no longer celebrates meritocracy and individual achievement.

He views as a part of this new northern "redneck culture" the Northern intellectual establishment's distate for Christianity and its embrace of what should be a thoroughly discredited theory that blacks have a different "learning style" or that mediocrity in intellectual achievement should be accepted in the schools as normal or expected.
