#98: Excellent Post. I'm surrounded by greatness. I look to my left, I look to my right - and what do I see? SENSE!!!
Brace yourselves, I hear the "CUSTER CAUCUS" on the move!

Saying the same thing in different words (#14), a C-SPAN caller this morning : "Trent Lott is not anchored in principal."

"I can't wait to see what tomorrow's looks like."
Keep it on the Bat Channel FReeper! It gets better every day!

Me, on my way to see the The Two Towers.

Honestly...
I think it comes down to alot of people who simply dont find Lott's upbringing or past actions with regard to race relations to be offensive and yes...even some who subtly embrace a separate but equal mindset.

"Farmer John center cut bacon?"
Don't go there yet...you'll ruin the surprise! Didn't your parents teach you that anticipation is the height of the chase? LOL!

"What do you make of tonight's news that most of the Republican Senators want him to stay? Last night I thought he was a goner."
Lott gets on the phone, deals and promises are made. At least that's what I believe has happened. No principles, just power and pork.

Your desires don't count anymore. The chute opened before Lott hit terminal velocity. The tide has turned. The cards are on the table. Life is an open book.
Lott ain't going nowhere. He told Bush that and apparently he meant it.
And now we are stuck with an even weaker majority leader.
To: VaBthang4
"...yet for some reason there are so-called Conservatives still pulling for Lott."
The Custer Caucus.

Why would anyone want to give them two years of soundbites and attack ads in 2004, even as Lott is led by the nose to redeem himself at the expense of party and country?Sometimes it takes people right up to the very last move before they believe they have been in mate since yesterday.

Lott gets on the phone, deals and promises are made. At least that's what I believe has happened. No principles, just power and pork. That's too bad. Apparently at this time he has 18 votes, he needs 8 more. We shall see.

"But I'm arguing that Lott is going to stay now because you've been played like a violin and you can look forward to lots of hate crimes, hate speech, hate thoughts and hate inferred thoughts legislation coming out of the senate."
Well, I'll go ahead and give you a pass because I honestly respect you greatly. I believe in righteous civil rights and Lott doesn't; heck, he believes in NOTHING. And...come here....a litttttle closer......I knew the game and I believe we get to win now. We were losing with Lott in ML; it was only a matter of time. We are better off without him as ML, and he did it himself.

(Henry) Wallace's Progressive Party was expressly pro-Soviet... (it) was the apex of Moscow-directed subversion of U.S. politics. ...Just two years before Lott's remarks, a hagiographic book on Wallace's life was released, titled "American Dreamer."... Wallace's version of the American "dream" was communism
... The dust jacket on "American Dreamer" featured a nauseating statement of praise by U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy. Kennedy said that the book deserved "to be read by all who care about the American dream." The American dream: communist totalitarianism.
... In 1999, the Clinton administration dedicated a room at the Agriculture Department to Wallace. At the dedication, former Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern gave a speech explicitly praising Wallace's pro-Soviet positions,... McGovern fondly recalled that he himself had voted for Wallace.
Just in case anybody missed it, I thought I would emphasize these tiny, little-known nuggets.

"even some who subtly embrace a separate but equal mindset."
How about "lifts and separates?"
And velco back snaps. Or at least written directions.
