The source of course is Mark 16:15.

If all one is going to do is look in a dusty commentary from hundreds of years ago, and recite to me that that long-dead author claims that kosmos means "world," then you have a tautology. Since old habit was to do that, and old habit is what you are quoting, then of course old habit is the only way to think!

Garbage in, garbage out!

I never said the KJV translators were STUPID, or that they didn't find "world" in their Greek dictionaries as the meaning of "kosmos." I am saying it is time to expand our understanding, think outSIDE the book.

At least the KJV had the grace to correctly translate "creature"-- that is half the battle.

My opponents are invited to tell me what EARTHLY creatures, other than humans, they are preaching the gospel to, or planning to do so soon.

I am going to call them speciesists for refusing to preach to gorillas and chimps.

A lesson:

C. Ryrie lists four principles of NORMAL HERMENEUTICS. I have adapted
these for our study. Items to consider in interpretation:
1. GRAMMAR: The words carry the message to the listener. We must
attempt to understand the words as they were used at the time that they
were recorded. Not to do this will result in much error and confusion.
2. CONTEXT: The words and sentences that you have been studying will of
necessity have to be compared to what was mentioned earlier, and later in
the text, to fully understand the intent of the Lord..80
3. CONTEXT OF THE ENTIRE SCRIPTURE: When you understand what the
person hearing or reading the words understood, then you need to compare
that to the context of Scripture to properly understand all that is meant.
We must interpret every part within the context of the whole.
4. PROGRESSIVE REVELATION MUST BE CONSIDERED: God revealed
Himself progressively over time, and we need to understand that what was
revealed to one person in the Scripture, may find change later in Scripture.
Example: The sacrificial system was the requirement under the law, is not
required in the Church age, and will be reestablished in some form in the
Kingdom. The idea of progressive revelation does not imply that later
revelation contradicts, nor negates current revelation.
In this section we might mention that the recipient of the book may be of
importance. The books to the Jews must be viewed somewhat differently
than the epistles of Paul to the churches. Many things had happened and
changed between these times. Much will apply differently in our age.

kosmon noun accusative masculine singular GSN-2889
[UBS] ko,smoj, ou m world, world order, universe; world inhabitants, mankind
(especially of men hostile to God); world, realm of existence, way of life
(especially as opposed to the purpose of God); adornment (1 Pe 3.3)

To proof your understanding of the word, you should look at all occurrences on the word:

NASB Matthew 16:26 "For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world,
and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
NASB Mark 8:36 "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
NASB Mark 14:9 "And truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world,
that also which this woman has done shall be spoken of in memory of her."
NASB Mark 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
NASB Luke 9:25 "For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself?
NASB John 1:9 There was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.
NASB John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
NASB John 3:17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world,
but that the world should be saved through Him.
NASB John 3:19 "And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world,
and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil.
NASB John 6:14 When therefore the people saw the sign which He had performed,
they said, "This is of a truth the Prophet who is to come into the world."
NASB John 8:26 "I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you,
but He who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I speak to the world."
NASB John 9:39 And Jesus said, "For judgment I came into this world,
that those who do not see may see; and that those who see may become blind.
NASB John 10:36 do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world,
'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God '?

My opponents are invited to tell me what EARTHLY creatures, other than humans, they are preaching the gospel to, or planning to do so soon.

I am going to call them speciesists for refusing to preach to gorillas and chimps.

I recommend that you read the Word of G-d in the Torah to understand the relationship between mankind and the animals.
Paying particular attention to see who G-d said was created in the image of G-d.

One hundred dusty commentaries which say to stick to the conventional translations, will have no effect upon me.

The Hebrew (and Greek) simply are not adequately covered by those translations, but those who find them comforting are welcome to them.

You need not quote further conventional theology texts, I am well aware they do not contain modern technological translations of these terms.
