Like I said, Santorum would be a good choice, but the whole thing is basically hypothetical. A LOT ot people have been trying very hard to cool this down and give Lott opportunities with which he could get out of this mess with his seat as majority leader more or less intact. Damaged, but still there.
Lott has foiled all attempts to help him. Earlier this week, I was saying with 99 percent conviction that Lott was not going ANYWHERE....not as majority leader nor as senator. His press conference wasn't all that bad, after all...but now, with his blatant pandering, I'm not so sure how this will play out.
