"I don't think Lott's comments were racist, just incedibly stupid."

Yes, incredibly stupid enough to make himself look like a racist. His words backed by his other words mixed with his segregationist past were going to take good, American helping ideas off the front burner. We need to turn this issue now. With real leadership so we can actually GET 32% of the black vote like we did in the late sixties.

I reread my post.
It's perfectly understandable if you know english...try a dictionary.
Or ask you mother to explain it.

I don't really believe you do not understand, of course, but your limited intellect is unable to refute what I have written, and so you claim it makes no sense.
That is still your problem not mine.

I knew going in that Lott had nothing at all to gain from this. This guy apologizes even more than Bill Clinton. He has to go, and go now.

"He may have won over blacks tonight, but "

I don't believe for a second that he won any blacks over this. Not at all. He sounded so scripted..it almost felt like he knew he sounded bad and was doing it on purpose. (/conspiracy theory off)

Sen. Trent Lott Talks to Black America

By Stephanie A. Crockett, BET.com Staff Writer

Posted Dec. 16, 2002 -- In an interview on BET, Sen. Trent Lott apologized again for his comments and asked for a chance to make amends as Senate majority leader.

Weathering a hailstorm of questions from BET's Ed Gordon, Lott promised to make up for his mistake through an "equal opportunity" agenda that would benefit African Americans and other minorities.

Although Lott wasn't specific about his legislative plans, members of his staff said that he is already talking with other Congressional leaders about a task force for reconciliation to "help bring America together along racial lines."

I thought it was awful, and I think the interviewer thought Lott was saying what he thought people might want to hear..

"We're not going to be the majority party, no matter what Lott told Newsweek.

There's too much of this talk about him leaving the Senate for me to doubt that that is, in fact, what he will do."

You've said this enough the last week I'm really beginning to believe that you believe this. It's almost as if you want this...

Oh, didn't you hear? Lott said HE asked for the meeting in January because he needs to discuss his plans for rectifying this situation with the other senators because "we all, of course, will have to work together" to make right the wrongs done to blacks.

I am FUMING........just FUMING.

"It amazes me that conservatives who once called him Traitor Lott are now defending him."

And defending his stupid, ambiguous comments, then towing the blackmail line...

He may have won over blacks tonight, but he sure lost me if ANY of what I have heard is true.

I don't think so Howlin, they will see right through this attempt from Lott

He had a chance to pull his butt out of the fire tonight but he blew it

I don't know who advised him either. All I have heard is it was his staff and they didn't realize it was going to be blown out of proportion. In fact, they didn't even know(from what I have heard from different shows)there was a problem.

I don't know the answer either. I just can't understand why this race card keeps working so well when we know who started it. I am not ready to throw a man to the wolves because someone paints him as a racist. That isn't right and I won't be a part of it.

"Well, I guess he doesn't mind being forever known as the lowest of scumbuckets then.

I guess that will prove his supporters admission, and his detractors contention, that he really is stupid."

And that he is totally self-serving. He will be persona non grata. Unbelievable that we who really see that we need better leadership to improve America, for blacks, whites and greens are being called the ignorants (actually, being called much worse). I'll give it to algore; at least he knew when to get out.

"I'm not sure that any of this is going to change anything. It might have worked if they put Lott in the center of a circle and everyone had a chance to slap him, spit on him, and generally beat him about the head. But to really get even with 'the man'....he would have to offer himself up for a hanging."

The truth is...Lott said something so stupid that even he couldn't defend. Now, we need to get him OUT OF THE WAY. I say gooooo riddance. It's about time. Lott being Leader again had we wondering about the GOP and if he stays, I'll know that RINOs run the party anyway, which says it all as far as the future of a conservative, America first, conservative agenda.

Lott appears to be playing right into their hands.

He has gotten quit a bit of help, IMO. I would hate to think that no one, who knew me, was standing up for me. That makes me angry to have people turn their backs on someone knowing it's a lie(most have admitted it).
