I was waiting for Lott to say that he would be in favor of changing the republican platform on abortion. Then some liberal would turn the tables on him and say, "you mean you favor the murder of little black babies?"
To: Norman Arbuthnot
This idiot called Lott is in quicksand: the more he struggles the deeper he sinks!

"So why haven't you been trying to get rid of him based on that instead of based on racisim? I will be on that train with you."Excuse me kcvl, you know not of what you talk. I have been all over Lott since that impeachment fiasco. So, check your records first before you speak. I have never, ever, been a Trent Lott fan.
Indeed, I never took into consideration the race factor and am not now. I just don't like the way Lott handles himself. He is reminding me of the way Clinton answered questions.
My point is and aways has been, there are better people then him for that important job.
BTW, why do YOU keep bringing up race? I see honesty and lack of character as the issue, not race stuff.
To: kcvl
What did you want him to do? Glad I came back.
I wanted him to FIGHT! Just like YOU wanted him to do NOW.
He didn't fight then, he wont fight now, but he will sure as hell give away the store, and call the South immoral just to save his sorry ass, wont he?
I knew he would only make it worse, and that is why I wanted him gone yesterday.
Too late now, Lott just called every white southerner a racist. He has wounded his party like no one else I have ever seen. I told you he would sell-out, and he did.
Are you ready to kick him out yet, or do you want to see just how bad it can get?. Lott will soon come out in favor of reparations, if that is what it takes to make Black America love him. Is that what you want? How many times does someone have to sell the party down the river, before you are ready to give him up?

"Does that mean "Right On Freeper..Lots Of Love"?"No...it means rolling on the floor laughing out loud. Race baiting has never and will never work with me.

MR. FLEISCHER: The President does not think he needs to resign. I repeat what I said last week, what I've said every day.

Most rank and file Republicans have not embraced Keyes I've talked to thousands of regular Republicans in every section of the country, and they invariably like and respect Keyes and his principled stand for Republican principles.
...but it's not about the minority community. It's about how to win some hearts and minds period.
Keyes wins hearts and minds no matter what people's skin pigment is. I've watched rooms full of nodding heads and understanding eyes from North Idaho to inner city Detroit. They finally had someone clearly explain the founding principles of our republic---the principles that apply and benefit all people equally---and contrary to the patronizing opinions of some around here, they were all more than able to understand it fully once someone bothered to take the time to explain it to them.
And Alan doesn't cut it.
Obviously not for you. You have some axe to grind against the man.
But you have put your agenda out there, and I thank you for doing it.
You're welcome. I've never been shy about it in the past, and I'm not going to start being so now simply because you are playing some kind of baiting game.
Can we go back on topic now?

I hope you don't ever say anything that you regret and try to apologize when your enemy is throwing slurs around. I also hope that you have a friend who will step up and defend you. That's all that I am doing. I don't think someone should be crucified when no one cared about the subject during all the other elections.
Why shouldn't they use the race card again? It works so well on all of you. No need to wait for the other side to crucify him we do that all by ourselves.

ok, well watch some more Ed Gordon and then get back to me.

Good question. I think they may be angered over the treatment of Lott but if most southerners heard what Lott said tonight about racism in the south, they may have no trouble throwing him overboard.

Does "remaining above the fray" mean anything to you?
Bush is right to force the Senate to clean up their own mess.

Touche...it was inevitable that IF ONLY the good doctor(of what?) was listened to, then things would be better. He sure helped Bush win big in November. The Good Doctor has been MIA on this matter, or has he been sending out his reps instead.... like anyone ought to take the political advice from his or or his flacks.

lecturing like some college prof all the while he thought he was a genius.... Hmm... Newt probably is a genius, actually.
To: Hazzardgate
we were all getting on so well too Do you mean that Lott wasn't a racist until? Why didn't someone tell us before now? I suppose we had to wait until the opposition pointed it out after YEARS AND YEARS of dealing with a racist.

Trent Lott has never said his ability to lead was in jeopardy. Trent Lott's ability to lead is in jeopardy because of his inability to stand on his principles. My doubts in Trent have nothing to do with his comments at Thurmaonds B-Day party, My doubts in Trent Lott started tonight when he said he "SUPPORTED" affirmative action. Ray Charles can see through that bold face lie and that fact is that he has never supported affirmative action.

Q Why do you not want to repeat what you said last week, about the White House thinking that he should remain?
MR. FLEISCHER: The President does not think he needs to resign. I repeat what I said last week, what I've said every day.
Q So the President can focus on improving race relations with Trent Lott as Majority Leader of the United States Senate?
MR. FLEISCHER: The President is going to do just what he did last week. And the President is going to continue to elevate the country, and to speak out about the bigger picture of the importance of improving race relations for all Americans. That's the -- one of the jobs of the Presidency is to lift up the debate and to focus on where the country is, vis a vis race, where we have to go and how we can possibly get there. And that's why the President thought it was so important to speak out and speak in public as he did.
Q And can Trent Lott as Majority Leader help him do that?
MR. FLEISCHER: Again, the President has made his statement about it. And the President looks forward to working with everybody to help America reach that day.

the problem is this is a hate crime by the right as Jim Robinson has pointed out.
I'd still like this explained to me if you can.
