My task was to point out that Lott is a liability to the entire party, now and forever, to those here who have their backs up or their panties in a wad about "the left" forcing out "our leader". They need to realize that ANY one who is a liability to the party HAS TO GO. Lott, retained as maj ldr, will be forced to make all sorts of compromises so as not to look racist to the press. His voting record will be cast as racist and compared with disdain to John Ashcroft's. Everything he says will be viewed through that prism, and Bush will spend the next two years explaining Lott. Every policy...every photo op...every day of his life.
