These RINOs like Fitzie Boy, Comrade Chaffee, McConnell, and McLoser's butt-boy Hagel need to be excluded from the party so the Senate Republicans can resemble something Conservative.

Do you happen to know how many votes it takes to be majority leader? It seems to me that PhiKapMom told me that Nickles was unacceptable to the more liberal members like Snow, and Lott was someone they all could agree on. That sounds to me like it takes more than a simple majority, but it may just have been her phrasing that led me to believe that.
To: Wait4Truth
Nobody has a better handle on the vote count than Nickles, I guarantee it.
And again, the RINOs are outnumbered in the Republican Caucus...they have less power in that room than they do in the full Senate.

Hey, settle down!! LOL! I was just commenting on his REASON for keeping Lott!

Please before you call Frist's office have the name right.

Ok, I trust ya! As long as Nickles knows none of the squishy ones will jump ship. I just couldn't stand losing the Senate that way again.
To: Wait4Truth
Truth, Let all the Rino's Jump ship too. I have had it with Snowe and Chaffee and Specter and appeasing them. Tell them it's our way or the highway. I woudl rather the Senate balance go 54 what-ever in the Rats favor and once and for all be rid of all these Rino's.
To: Miss Marple
It's a simpole calculation...
51 R) Senators...
26 votes needed total to be Majority Leader.

Miles, Thanks.
To: per loin
give the job to Maxine Waters.
Watch what you wish for....
To: EternalVigilance
Rick Santorum would be a real good choice!

You have a stronger stomach than I do. I couldn't bear to watch daschle and the media skewer the President over losing the Senate to jumpers twice in a year's time. I haven't even gotten over the 36 days from hell in 2000 yet.
To: EternalVigilance
Sometimes the rules are not a simple majority, and that is why I asked. To use a fairly recent and depressing example, it was necessary to get 60 votes for conviction in Clinton's impeachment trial; 51 was not enough to convict.
I just want to know what the Senate rules actually are. Do you KNOW if it is simply a majority, or are you assuming it is so?
To: Miss Marple
No I don't know... I'd guess a simply majority but I really don't have any idea..... Makes a big difference now if they can run ol Lott out the door and get a 50/50 Senate again. This was all quite until after the LA election and Mary won....

Yep - some switchboard operator would have to tell him that the "Frisker" served his two terms and is now busy fundraising for the DNC...
To: deport
Ok. Let's just let this one go. I didn't mean to offend you with my opinion.
To: deport
Is that the plan? I am always the last to know....
To: folklore
The only way to go towards losing the Senate is if Lott made the stupidest political decision of all time and resigned his Senate seat.
I know that doesn't inspire confidence in a group of people who consider him to not be too bright....but I really don't think the President is going to stand idly by and let Lott do that.
Stepping through that door for Lott would be a step into the abyss.
...And I'm doing fine, my friend! South Dakota sunshine and warm weather, thank goodness! :-) How bout you?
To: Wait4Truth
Truth, I am not sure it is a stronger stomach or I am just fed up with the lack of principles and not standing for anything that seems to come from the Senate in particular. Lott is a perfect example. We know what Tommy Boy stands for, do we know what Lott stands for these days?
