I really like your theory about the KGB selling inoperative nukes to bin Laden. I just can't the KGB selling a live nuke with live launch codes to a bunch of crazy people who started their careers killing Russians in Afghanistan. This could have been a sting operation where KGB agents fried a few key electronic components, gave them badly decayed fissile material, and gave them the wrong launch codes just to be really safe. Then they'd tell bin Laden that these weapons haven't been tested in fifteen years and they offer no warranty on these nukes, just to cover themselves. As far as I know, bin Laden is on Putin's most-despised list and Putin believes he's responsible for many of the bombings and SAM attacks in Chechnya. So it would be a fatal error for a KGB agent to be caught selling any kind of nuke to bin Laden in an unauthorized sale. I think those KGB guys are smart enough to find safer ways to make a few bucks. Why risk execution by selling nukes to OBL? It just doesn't make sense. If they did sell backpack nukes to bin Laden, it must have been a sting operation run from the top to snooker bin Laden into paying millions of dollars for inoperative nukes.

post 158. Everybody read it. And thanks for saving me the time.
Amazes me how many delusional fantasies pervade these boards.
