Operation Infinite FReep, Columbia, Mo. 12/14/02
Streets of Columbia | 12/14/02 | bluesagewoman

Mid-Missouri Patriots had the most pleasant weather for Freeping the peaceniks at the Columbia Post Office this morning. We were thrilled to see some of their new signs showing their true colors. Additionally, one sweet lady threatened me with a lawsuit for “changing” their signs when they are posted at FR. We must really be doing well in offending their sensibilities if they need to resort to threats of legal action against our right to free speech; you know how peaceful and tolerant they are, believing in the First Amendment for EVERYONE who agrees with them.

Zip, Shane, Prov, Bogeyman and I stood across from them, and were honored to speak to a few Veterans as they stopped by our little group to talk. We’d love to have them join us on a regular basis.

One peacenik decided she couldn’t stand Zip’s sign reading “Self-Defense is a Human Right” and crossed to where he was standing to advise him that we had killed 10’s of thousands of Afghan innocents the past year, was that self-defense? Zip asked her from where does she get her stats and information. She replied it was from “Christian” sources. Prov wanted to know if she believed everything she read there and the woman said that yes she did. Could it be that there is a little slanting of the news going on “there” where ever “there” is? No way could there be bias in liberal news operations.

Anyway, I have to post and run. We hope you enjoy the close-up of the peacenik sign with the small print. If we were having a contest to see who had the most remarkably, incredibly and overwhelmingly idiotic peaceniks, we’d win.

Legal Note: For those that worry, there is a principle upon which our society relies called the “First Amendment.” That Amendment allows people to express their opinions, even unfavorable or unflattering ones, without restraint. Parodies, even vicious ones, are covered by the First Amendment (as Jerry Falwell found when he sued Larry Flynt). Peaceniks who present their opinions in public, on public property, with a publicly displayed sign cannot complain when their very deliberately presented public opinions are held up to public ridicule on the publicly displayed Internet. If they do not want to stand the heat of what others think of their silly a$$ opinions, they should stay home.

The gang supports our troops on this fine morning.

A Show-Me request of Mr. Husssein.

"Freedom-threatened" woman "freely" expressing her opinion.

This lady didn't like Zip. I don't think she likes much of anything.

"If we were having a contest to see who had the most remarkably, incredibly and overwhelmingly idiotic peaceniks, we’d win."

Oh, yeah? We accept your challenge! I'll grant that you do face a remarkable array of idiots across the street from you in Missouri. But nevertheless, I'll MEET your idiots and RAISE you one .....

Do you have any idiots like one we have here in Colorado who comes over every week to lecture us about the "fact" that Al Qaeda didn't really fly the planes into the WTC, but that rather GWB's White House operatives flew the planes into the towers "by remote control"?

Now the rules are, you have to MATCH our idiot, and then you have to raise the stakes with a worse idiot, or else "call"....... So what'll it be?

Geesh, fully 3/4 of our peaceniks think 9-11 was a Jewish conspiracy. You have to do better than that!

"fully 3/4 of our peaceniks think 9-11 was a Jewish conspiracy"

Oh, man!! You guys do surveys of your peaceniks? Wow! You really ARE determined to win this contest with us, aren't you?

Well, I guess that leaves us no choice! I'll have to draw up a survey (typical question: "Do you think that Jews poison wells in Palestinian communities?") and head across the street with it.

I just don't know what kind of cooperation I'm going to get though, when I go up to them and say, "Pardon me, but I'm from the other side of the street. We're trying real hard to win a contest against some other American cities to win the title of City with the Stupidest Peaceniks and so I need to take a survey and collect quotes from people on your side. Do you think you can hslp us win the contest by answering a few questions?"

HeeHee, no we don't survey them. The newspapers print DOZENS of stories about their activities and "feelings" every week, usually with photos. Sometimes they print whole pages of names of folks who have signed stupid statements...People against Hiroshima, People against War, People against Everything.

There are literally dozens of various "peace" organizations to join in this small town, as well as a whole store of stuff they sell, including propaganda and yard signs. Our university has a "peace" studies program and turns out more peaceniks each semester. When the peaceniks get to talking, you will hear exactly the same turn of phrases, the same manner of instigating arguments, the same points, twisted facts and stats, the same nonsense coming out of their mouths. Talk about conformists! They even dress remarkably alike.

Since the graduates sometimes take 10-20 years to get their degrees (professional students) they like to hang around here and settle. We are half-way between St. L. and K.C., and 30 miles from the state capital, so they can protest to their hearts content. Many local events like Memorial Day Parades or air shows, the peaceniks will "paper" the area. The most celebrated activists among them are the ones who spent time at federal prisons for their mischief. I'm talking hard-core people, here!

After reading their "stories" in the newspapers, seeing their mugs on the local news, seeing their pamphlets almost everywhere, etc., one would think they were 100% Conspiracy Freaks. I merely cut the number from what would appear the going rate and came up with fully 75%. I suspect that may be a bit low. However, we do have occassion to talk each week; it is hard to avoid. They do most of the talking, as they don't want to hear our point of view, but want to convert us from our wicked thinking.

Have to run...will be moving my MIL today. Hopefully, one of us has a few photos and words to post for a new FReep this week. Good luck to you all!
