OMG!!!

You betcha thanks to Clintoon! I will bet this is the reason Gore went to China and got money for the pitiful DNC and added to Billory's swiss bank account; in exchange for the final disks for Red China's new stealth that combined with their technology will make ours look like relics.

Dumb ole Gore probably got his very own swiss bank account- for this mission in exchange for his silence and to NOT run for Prez.

I seem to recall there was the rumor floating around that the reason we bombed the Chinese embassy a few years ago was that they had the wrekcage from the downed stealth fighter stored there.

I have no idea if this is true or not.

Regardless, the F-117 is twenty year old technology that had its orgins in a thirty year old Russian technical paper. China would have figured out their own model sooner or later anyway.

Thank you Mr. Clinton.

It's still been left to Dubya to export to them the manufacturing technology to actually build a stealth fighter. But that's near the top of the list of Robert Zoellick's priorities.

I was just going to say that ... but if it's less sophisticated than ours, maybe x42 gave them the OLD plans and not the new stuff. Do we have to be grateful for small favors.

Maybe not too scary
Beachcraft make a commercial bird that is more stealthy than the 117 - maybe you have seen it? The Starship.
Or the Vari Viggen (C Bede) they were using those to suggle dope into the US...

Or not.

China's Shenyang Aircraft Company has overseen the development of several J-X heavyweight fighter concepts. (Source: via Y Chang)

"In October 2002, Boeing revealed a bat-winged stealth jet called the Bird of Prey."

Coooool! I wonder if they got the name from
Klingon ships in Star Trek?

Apparently so, according to this story in Popular Science:

Gee, why would our 'good friends' and trading partners, Red China, need a stealth fighter? hmmmm....

Since its being built by the Chinese defense industry it will likely be as "stealthy" as their submarines, which reportedly caused our sonar operators some huge headaches...which started with earaches.

The ultimate fighter plane:

-US performance, design, and stealth characteristics.
-Japanese avionics and reliability.
-Russian maneuverability and maintainability.
-Israeli turn-around time.
-French ejector system. >:)
