Kathy, thank you for posting Ted Maher's picture at 79.

Ted's other home is at the current Ted Maher thread.

The smallpox vaccination news doesn't seem so dramatic; we had them in the '50's and no one I know died.

As for Osama's 100 backpack nukes, I think someone in the KGB has a boxcar of vodka with the money he made with that scam.

All the roadblocks to "communicable disease facilities" Saddam can muster will not delay his death a minute.

The real strength of America is not merely in its weaponry--it's in its warrior spirit.

Witness Tonk's valiant fellow Coast Guard sailors: there is nothing more inspiring than human courage.

It's the North Star of the world.

God Bless the Finest Fighting Force on Earth.

"Welcome home"

Thanks, rough day today, power outage ALMOST made me late for work.
Non stop phone calls at work.
Miserable rain and treacherous driving to and from work.
Part of front fence blown down.
Exhausted and it's only the end of "my Monday."

Sounds like if things keep going in this direction for the rest of your week, it's going to be very rough indeed.

Well put your feet up by the fire and ZZZZZ out for a while!!

But the "shoes" did help you stay on your feet, didn't they?

In view of the President's decision to innoculate the troops against small pox, Commander in Chief included, here's an interesting quote by Ben Franklin from his autobiography .......

In 1736 I lost one of my sons, a fine boy of four years old, by the small-pox, taken in the common way. I long regretted bitterly, and still regret that I had not given it to him by inoculation. This I mention for the sake of parents who omit that operation, on the supposition that they should never forgive themselves if a child died under it; my example showing that the regret may be the same either way, and that, therefore, the safer should be chosen.

Feeble, Tom, feeble! Yikes! OK, here's my feeble attempt...

An elephant was drinking out of a river one day when he spotted a turtle asleep on a log. So he ambled over and kicked it clear across the river.

"What did you do that for?" asked a passing giraffe.

"Because I recognized it as the same turtle that took a nip out of my trunk 53 years ago."

"Wow, what a memory," commented the giraffe.

"Yes, said the elephant, "turtle recall".
