The head of the government's Total Information Awareness project, which aims to root out potential terrorists by aggregating credit-card, travel, medical, school and other records of everyone in the United States, has himself become a target of personal data profiling.

"Former President Clinton, [glancing up from his trove of 900 FBI files], expressed support for the project"
and asked "can I get these FBI files updated"?

"Former President Clinton, expressed support for the project"
And wished he had thought of it first.

If they really want this program this program, then it should be written into the legislation that authorizes it that every member of Congress, every federal judge, and every employee of every agency collecting and reviewing this data...all information that will be gathered from the general public will be gathered on them FIRST and posted on the Internet and updated weekly, even after they no longer work there. After all, (as some like to say) if THEY have nothing to hide, they won't mind if everyone has this information. Until that happens, I'll go back to cash and will go out of my way to keep off of any public or private database.

"if THEY have nothing to hide,"
I'll kiss their asses, at high noon, with the band playing.

And current President GWB expresses support for the project by not telling them to stop. And I always thought GWB was a GOPer.

I think it also imperative that he publish his credit card records, bank transactions, and the like. Shouldn't be a problem, unless he has something to hide.
Geesh!! They pulled the other thread including my post so now I have to do it all over again. Double Geesh!!!
He should be tracked and needs to be tracked. With all due respect, Poindexter represents a danger to this country at least 1000 times larger than I do.
I'm not really worried, however. The guvament doesn't have the smarts to pull this off. The logistics are a total nightmare. They can't even come up with a reasonable and simple way of filing health insurance claims electronically (HIPPA) let alone something like this where every financial institution, medical facility and school (just for starters) would need to be linked. The data redundancy would be staggering and keeping it up to date damn near impossible. And I don't care if the promise is signed in blood, if you think there would be no data sharing, I've got a bridge to sell you. What a joke!!

Good post. I was wondering why I hadn't seen this on Free Republic until I did a Title search.
I would think the Freeper Community would literally be up in arms about this topic.
Thanks for posting.
We're going through your bank records, employment records, criminal records.
So TIA. < Sarcasm >
LOL -- this is the best illustration of the concept of "karma" since sleazoid spammer (but I repeat myself) Ralsky got signed up for all those mailing lists.
