I think it's a hot button issue because Ashcroft is a known and beloved conservative -- he had one of the most conservative voting records when he was in the Senate -- who has been unfailing vigorous on the war on terror.

So one decision on Winnick -- well, it makes you think they know something we don't which makes it hard to prove in court. It makes you want to give a guy who has had YEARS of FLAWLESS conservative service on behalf of the country the benefit of the doubt. It makes you secretly furious at FRiends so willing to betray him on one issue. Hence "hot button," you Disloyal Fool. Ooops, sorry, that was a typo. :D

Heck NO!! I've been keepin' my powder dry on Ashcroft fer over a year, largely due to advice from FReepers whom I respect...Winnick was simply the Last Straw in my book!!
