As for this weak line "It is for the people of Mississippi to decide", what a crock.

Gee, I'm sorry you find the concept of federalism to be a crock.

We all have the duty to stand for the Truth and Justice and if Lott is Evil we should be CALLING for his resignation.

Nice rhetorical leap. I am not saying that Lott is evil. I don't know if he is racist or not - only he knows that. I am saying that he does not display sufficient judgement to be majority leader.

We all did it with the Congressman from California that MAY have had something to do with a woman's disappearance.

Not all. I never called for Condit to resign. I called for him to come clean. And the people in his district took care of the matter far better than we could have.

If as the Left is saying Lott is a Racist then he IS evil and we ALL should be calling for his resignation as a Senator.

I really don't give a fig what the left is saying.

If he is not a Racist and his statements were about States Rights then we should NOT be using the Left Accusations as a motor to push our agenda of getting a new Majority Leader.

You left out the primary issue - he has time and time again shown terrible judgement that harms his party. That is the main problem here.

We should be fighting the left and is race baiting, anti-States Right agenda.

Oh, and downplaying Lott's comments helps that? What a joke.

We choose our Majority Leader through a vote of our representatives, not through fain indignation and lies.

And if our Majority Leader shows he is not up to the task, we demand our GOP senators choose another one.

And IF you believe his statements were racist and you won't call for his complete resignation from the senate you are a quite adept at putting words in the other person's mouth so you can then condemn what you claim they are saying. That's really special.

Just like the democrats who said Clinton was wrong but would not impeach.

What Lott did is nowhere near as bad as what Clinton did. Lott showed very poor judgement. Clinton broke the law. Therefore, it is proper to demand sanctions that match the respective transgressions. Clinton should have been removed from office (after all, it's our only national elected office, we all have a say in that matter). Lott should resign as Majority Leader - a back-bench senator can be a dolt and do just fine, but that's really not a trait you want in your leadership, unless you want to derail your own cause - which is probably why Tommy Daschle wants Lott to stay on.

If we think he is a bad ML and that is all, we should then be taking care of it outside the circus surrounding his statements.

Anything less and we are compromising the truth for our own desires for power.
