The Canadians have the same problems with the leftists that we do. The fact that leftists are lying sorry sacks of sh*t is universal.

Canada's Liberals are the longest running comedy skit Canadians have seen for a decade. The longer they're in power the more arrogant, profligant, and incompetent they become. Its amazing Canadians tolerate the lot of them. Americans would have thrown the bums out a long time ago.

I doubt that. Look at DC, California, Mass., and other various places where the liberals rule with an iron fist and often are not even opposed by a republican on the ballot.

Out here in the Soviet of Washington, Republicans have to deal with the socialist democRATS like you would the mafia. Unfortunately, not many want to step up to the task.

I would urge any decent, freedom-loving Canadians to disobey these stupid, immoral leftist laws. Throw sand in the gears of this corrupt regime whenever possible. It's time to start thinking of ways to evade the payment of taxes as well. The Canadian government is a corrupt, terrorist-supporting state. Who is it up there that keeps on putting these dangerous fools in office? Is the country populated by feminists and emasculated leftist males?

Gun prohibitionists shrug off rising problems with gang violence, saying that this legislation was targeted at normal people who misuse firearms, not criminals.

What?...

I saved this article, so that anytime I start to get depressed about how screwed up the U.S. government is these days, I'll have something to remind me how much worse it could be.

If this article is anywhere close to true, it describes a government that is both dysfunctional and does not represent the will of the Canadian people in any credible way. Of course, it may be a bit overdone, but it's hard to overemphasize how such things as having a PM-appointed Senate and MPs subject to dismissal by party leaders (not the electorate) must isolate the people from their government.

This has got to be one of the stupidest statements that I have ever seen. Logic has nothing to do with a liberal. Pure emotion only, which is the currency of fools.

Some things in this article bear repeating:

Gun prohibitionists shrug off rising problems with gang violence, saying that this legislation was targeted at normal people who misuse firearms, not criminals. [...]

In Canada, registered gun owners must report a change of address to the police, but convicted violent felons do not. Registered gun owners must surrender their privacy, consenting to government "inspections" of their home to verify registry information. While the government makes inaccurate lists of who owns which gun, the Correctional Service lacks the funds to track parolees who fail to report. [...]

Chrétien's dilatory attitude towards violent criminals and his fierce attitude towards gun owners mimic his policy toward terrorism. [...]

This article outlines what have become universal hallmarks of gun prohibition regimes.

In my opinion, such regimes are a greater threat to a free society than any form of terrorism will ever be, since terrorism tends to galvanize a society, while "gun control" divides and conquers it, insidiously working from within, like a virus.

The terrible plight of the "Commonwealths of the Crown" should be warning enough for those who would advocate that the United States emulate them.

Both are true. Unfortunately, the Canadian right is split between the brain-dead Progressive Conservatives and the Alliance, a party unable to gain a real foothold in the east. So the Liberal misrule continues.

My pleasure. Surely a cautionary tale for us in the States.
