Oh, I get it all right. I know the difference between a noun and a verb. I also know how to use the Merriam-Webster site, and realize that the entry to which we are both referring to is the entry for the noun gender, not the verb. This is why the example given for definition 2a, sex, is "the feminine gender".

Hmmmm... ignorant or simply too embarassed to admit you're wrong? I'm going to go for a combination of both.

It does not describe the physical sex, which is how you used it. Lose the bluster, chum, you're dead in the water.
