Steering children back to straight

"Stevie" isn't like other 5-year-old boys. While his peers are into karate and video games, Stevie tiptoes around the house like a ballerina and plays with Barbie dolls. His favorite colors are pink and red.

The psychiatric world calls this behavior sex nonconformity or sex confusion.

Glad to hear that they worked it all out. Does their dad play an integral part of their lives (since you inserted them into the discussion, let's take a look).

Maybe they should call him "Butch"? No wait...

Obviously, PFOX is in bed with the "ex-gay" industry, which claims to take gay people and turn them into straight people even though that never happens.

Except for the fact that it does. "Still, it moves!"

Maybe they should call him "Butch"? No wait...        Actually I was thinking maybe, oh... the name on his birth certificate?   Of course under the assumption that his parents aren't knuckleheads who actually named him "stevie".

Actually, "knucklehead" is a very polite term for a dad who was no time for his own son. I seldom am so polite.

Humans are "more complex" than cause-and-effect, yet sexuality is black and white?

And this makes sense to you?

Behavior is that simple. Either you do it or you do not do it (to paraphrase Andrew Dice Clay ). And yes, homosexual behavior is just wrong.

"Orientation" is a myth, it's all a choice.

Maybe sexuality is a toss-up for you but most of the rest of us are a little more definite in which gender we're attracted to. If you've got some choices to make however, I'm sure someone out there is willing to help.

Sorry, but behavior is always a choice. People who cannot choose their own behaviors are a threat to themselves and to others.

...but most of the rest of us are a little more definite in which gender we're attracted to.

'Gender' refers to grammar. We're discussing behaviors and choices, right and wrong.

If you've got some choices to make however, I'm sure someone out there is willing to help.

No help needed. I'm normal. Thanks for caring.

I'm sure your sons would have loved being told they were playing in the "wrong" way.

I have a cousin who is about ten years younger than I. He was a cerebral little boy, he liked to read books, draw and dance. My aunt and uncle kept buying him dump trucks and other "manly" toys to play with. He would just toss them aside, so my uncle would try to force him to play with the toys. I don't have to tell you how successful that was. I used to get in trouble for letting him read my schoolbooks and my girl cousins would get yelled at for encouraging him to dance. At any rate, today he's a heterosexual architect who supports the ballet. He's got a pretty good life going, but his parents aren't really a part of it. They did a good job of alienating him right from the start.

Sexuality is more than "behavior"; one does not choose who one falls in love with, for example.

Sorry, but behavior is always a choice.

Sure it is. But you're talking about sexual orientation, not sexual acts. I can no more be attracted to the same sex than I can be attracted to fat, hairy-legged feminazis. It pervades my identity. In fact, it's a very basic part of my identity, just as much as my race and gender. It's simply beyond comprehension that you or anyone thinks such a basic character trait is a choice. Anyone who honestly believes that orientation is a myth and a choice is simply not mentally stable.

Sexual acts are a behavior and are always the result of a choice.

But you're talking about sexual orientation...

No, I'm talking about sexual preference.

I can no more be attracted to the same sex than I can be attracted to fat, hairy-legged feminazis.

That's because you're normal. If, however, you would have been subjected to certain traumas during your development, such as being molested by a homosexual, that may have come out differently.

In fact, it's a very basic part of my identity, just as much as my race and gender.

Again, gender applies to grammar.

If you were attracted to others of the same sex, then your identity would be a corrupted one, such as in the case of an alcoholic or a kleptomaniac. Fortunately, we can sucessfully treat all of these aberrations. This article is simply one more example of that.

It's simply beyond comprehension that you or anyone thinks such a basic character trait is a choice.

Your comprehension appears to be limited in this matter.

Anyone who honestly believes that orientation is a myth and a choice is simply not mentally stable.

Anyone who believes that homosexuality is acceptable is a moral cripple. So there.

If you think I'm arguing that a man cannot be attracted to another man, then you are mistaken. However, when this does occur, it is an aberration and the result of a mental or moral defect (perhaps both). Orientation is not the pre-ordained destiny that some would have us believe. That is what I was stating was a myth. If I wasn't succinct enough in my earlier declaration, I apologize.

Homosexuality has nothing to do with love. It is a perversion of something that should be beautiful.

In a free society, I have every right to protest when someone attempts to portray such a perversion as something normal or wholesome.

Keep it private and there won't be a problem, will there? Even though this is clearly a mental defect, our respect of the right to privacy means that we don't invade people's homes (the restrooms at public facilities being another matter entirely) to guarantee their mental health.

Unfortunately, the homosexual activists won't let it stay private, they have to rub our noses in it. And they attempt to gain access to our children and try to pervert their morals and their natures. This means that we have to be more aggressive in making sure that people know that this can be cured so that they do not fall prey to the homosexual propaganda concerning the development of their children's sexuality.

No, I'm talking about sexual preference.

You were very clear. You said, "Orientation" is a myth, it's all a choice. In any event, your demo-esque dithering has been noted.

That's because you're normal.

No, that's because I'm me. And what makes something "normal" anyway? There are plenty of people out there who like fat, hairy-legged women. Hell, for most of human history, fat women were regarded as a status symbol, and the desire for a slender woman was considered abnormal, maybe even sick.

Again, gender applies to grammar.

ROFLMAO! Get thee to a dictionary. And while you're there, be sure to look up the meaning of "is".

If you were attracted to others of the same sex, then your identity would be a corrupted one, such as in the case of an alcoholic or a kleptomaniac. Fortunately, we can sucessfully treat all of these aberrations.

Maybe your sexual orientation is so fluid it can be changed by therapy and drugs. That certainly doesn't apply to most folks.

Look, it's a free country. If you want to find others who share your lack of confidence in sexual orientation, you're free to seek those folks out. But you should be aware that most people find the sort of fluid sexuality that you advocate to be alien at best. I wish you the best of luck in your quixotic quest.

Don't be so naive. There have always been those who labor under the notion that private behavior between other consenting adults has a direct impact on their lives. It gives them a reason to go on, I guess.

I will say this, however. You guys have really been getting the short end of the stick in the last century or so. For some reason, it's still somewhat okay to continue to indulge these prurient interests as long as the targets are same-sex couples. Ah well. As Sartre said, "The dark ages are always with us,"

Homosexuality has everything to do with "love". Or, do you believe that homosexuals don't fall in love?

I'm not naive -- I just take a perverse pleasure in watching the mental acrobatics some people perform. I used to participate in creation/evolution arguments, but they tend to get a bit too quote-ridden any more.
