WOW....Charles Krauthammer and now Thomas Sowell calling for Lott to step down as house speaker.
I've not been on here in a few days but this mess seems like a major railroading as well as a golden opportunity.
I've not been a big Lott fan. I think we need a leader with a spine. I'm sick of him kissing liberal butt.
OTOH I can see what a HUGE hypocritical show this is by Dems.

WOW....Charles Krauthammer and now Thomas Sowell calling for Lott to step down as house speaker. The Speaker of the House is Denny Hastert, not Trent Lott.
Vacant Lott is senate Majority Leader.

"WOW...Charles Krauthammer and now Thomas Sowell calling for Lott to step down..." Notice the conservatives are coming out against Lott. I'm guessing that's because they're dreaming of a conservative Senate majority leader.
Well, consider this:--IF Lott steps down AND stays in the Senate---and a conservative Senate Majority Leader emerges....Chafee and Snowe will have their reason to bolt the party.
Conservatives should think this through before they take pen in hand.

I will go to my grave wondering where and how Lott came out saying he wanted blacks back in chains and separated from the white women. Words mean things but blanket statements mean little but just enough, apparently, for the camel to get its nose under the tent. Please explain to me, I beg you all, how I too can divine the unspoken meaning of what people DON'T say!
Usually we don't prosecute people for thought or word, but here we have a prosecution for an unspoken thought. This scares me far more than what the "civil libertarians" worry about coming from Ashcroft & Rumsfeld!

You nailed it mykdsmom....the delimma is huge. Tough to have been against most of Lott's weakkneed leadership over the past...what? 8 years or so....and now to morn his demise.
A leader he isn't - a vote for the Pubbies he is. Can he be both and survive?
