And I find it interesting that during WWII, it seemed all of Hollywood jumped on board to do their part in the war effort. Carole Lombard even lost her life while on a war bonds tour.

And yet we have such exemplary characters there today who wouldn't lift a finger to help out the country that has been so good to them.

Hate to say it, but in fact Carole Lombard was a way-left actress who FDR loved because she made such a big public display of how much she supported the progressive income tax and other socialist economic schemes. Actors have always been largely leftists, it's just that they at least used to have the sense to keep their opinions to themselves. Myrna Loy, Charles Laughton, John Garfield -- Hollywood has long been full of them. Oh, I loved seeing William Schallert's name on this list -- he played Patty Duke's father on "The Patty Duke Show" and was President of the Screen Actors Guild. I met him once at a memorabilia show -- one of the worst shoe-polish hair dye jobs this side of Tim McCarver!!
