Hate to say it, but in fact Carole Lombard was a way-left actress who FDR loved because she made such a big public display of how much she supported the progressive income tax and other socialist economic schemes. Actors have always been largely leftists, it's just that they at least used to have the sense to keep their opinions to themselves. Myrna Loy, Charles Laughton, John Garfield -- Hollywood has long been full of them. Oh, I loved seeing William Schallert's name on this list -- he played Patty Duke's father on "The Patty Duke Show" and was President of the Screen Actors Guild. I met him once at a memorabilia show -- one of the worst shoe-polish hair dye jobs this side of Tim McCarver!!

Well, I never knew Lombard's political leanings, but at least she did her part and wasn't divisive the way this current crop are. And you're right, they used to have the sense to keep their politics to themselves. I know they have a right to their opinions and all, but I'm so tired of these people now trying to influence others. Most of them are as uneducated as toads.
