I received the 2002 Whitehouse Christmas card (postmarked Crawford, Tx.) and wanted to share it with any and all.

I was trying my hand at being a single issue person. In the past I have been a dual issue person. I despise Klayman and Keyes. Multitasking has gotten tiresome :o)

Well, here's your chance to get him back. Send back your muffler, C.O.D.

That'll teach him.

President Bush was the first president to use a Bible verse on the White House Christmas card.

Thank you for repeating that. I saw on another thread that the phrase "first time" was being wrongly interpreted as applying to this year's card, when it is as you say--that last year was the first emanating from the WH (figuratively, for the nit-pickers) and not the first time GWB and Laura have issued a card with a Bible verse before their tenure in Washington, D.C.

Actually, I think the subliminal message is in the card. See, there is a piano in a ballroom. I think it means that we are going to attack Iraq on January 12th, and then prepare for China to retaliate against us. Barbara Striesand will be arrested for treason and the Govt will cancel all reruns of Seinfeld.

But I could be wrong, too.

Who do you think the Lord is in the verse from Psalms? That is Jesus Christ, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

She never said that.

I am SO glad I am not a glass-half-full type of person. I think they are always unhappy.

This is sweet. The religious crowd can't stand the guy lives it and doesn't have to prove he's a Christian by advertising it to the masses (no pun intended). If people are going to judge this man and his wife by the card they send at Christmas, I say let's see what's in their (glass) house. Seems the Messiah chastised the ones who held to traditions of men. And requiring some sort of certain card be sent seems to be a tradition (requirement) imposed by men, not God, IMO. What a crappy thread this is.

You know, the sad thing is that the person who started this thread wanted to share his/her joy at getting the card.

But as usual, there are people on this thread who live to suck the joy out of everything.

She never said that.
I thought she did. Please translate for me.

Did you know that last year President and Mrs. Bush were the FIRST presidential couple to put ANY scriptural reference on their card at all?

I got a letter back from him that was in reply to something written about 9-11. In it he mentioned the Lord, and faith. That wasn't even a Christmas card, and he had/has no idea of my religious preferences.

You'd think there is a list out there people draw from for "reasons to hate President Bush" that they pull out from time to time.

You said to Miss Marple:

I thought you said this year's card having a bible verse was the first ever for that.

And I pointed out that:

She never said that.

You now ask me to interpret this from Miss Marple:

Did you know that last year President and Mrs. Bush were the FIRST presidential couple to put ANY scriptural reference on their card at all?

Last year refers to the previous year to this one. We are in the year 2002 and last year was 2001. So when Miss Marple said that last year, the first Christmas of George W. Bush's presidency, was the first time a scriptural reference was put on a WH Christmas card, that means she did not say, as you asserted in the first portion above, that *this year* was the first year such a thing had occurred.

See?

Your question:

I thought you said this year's card having a bible verse was the first ever for that. I'd assumed you were trying to be accurate. What's up with that?

What I said:

Did you know that last year President and Mrs. Bush were the FIRST presidential couple to put ANY scriptural reference on their card at all?

I hope this clarifies your confusion.
