Celebrities to Send Bush Anti-War Letter

LOS ANGELES (AP)--Mike Farrell and Anjelica Huston will release a letter Tuesday signed by a hundred celebrities who want President Bush to stop his war rhetoric toward Iraq.

The letter reportedly is signed by stars including Kim Basinger, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Lange and Martin Sheen, publicists for the event said Monday.

Details of the letter weren't released.

Bush has threatened military force against Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, saying the dictator has amassed weapons of mass destruction that pose a danger to the United States.

United Nations weapons inspectors are searching the Middle Eastern country for such devices but have turned up little so far.

Farrell, who plays a veterinarian on the NBC drama ``Providence,'' previously compiled a celebrity-endorsed letter in June asking U.S. senators to vote against a plan to bury the nation's nuclear power waste at Nevada's Yucca Mountain.

Co-signers of that letter included Alec Baldwin and Tim Robbins, Rob Reiner, Barbra Streisand and Harry Belafonte.

On July 9, senators voted 60-39 in favor of the Yucca Mountain project.

Didn't he play a character named "BJ" :-)

Yep, and now in real life he plays an idiot. Talk about typecasting...

Being vociferously anti-war is a convenient way to hide the fact that you are a coward and don't think anything is worth fighting for (especially if you're the one that is expected to fight).

Here's hoping this letter is as successful as the one Farrell ginned up to protest Yucca Mountain...can we have these idiots buried there too...as Hollywood waste?

No can do - nuclear waste is dangerous for 20,000 years, but stupid is forever...

These people are actors because they cannot function on their own - someone has to tell them what to say, how to say it, and provide the context. They tell each other "hold that thought" because thinking is SO difficult for them.

These people are entertaining, but they are so steeped in "hollywood" that they don't even know what it's like to live in America (without all that attention and bottom-feeding that is their daily existence), let alone what it's like to live in any other country! Couple this with their demonstrated inability to think, and it's understandable how they have no clue that not everyone in the world perceives things in the same way as everyone else.

There are a few exceptions, i.e. actors who DO understand how the real world works, but you don't see them signing stupid letters or quoting richard gere by saying "give peace a chance"! If these exceptions DID speak out, they would most likely be blackballed and never work again....

These clowns would be much happier hugging Saddam and entertaining his cast of satanic fools. These actors are weak emotionally and spiritually. We need to pray for our enemies, both foreign and domestic. Any questions?

Too bad we don't have an Un-American Activities Committee anymore to round up these subversives.

If you support the enemy you are a traitor, pure and simple.

Goodie, more human "shields" to go to Iraq with those Canadian idiots. All we have to do is talk them into going. Maybe Alec Baldwin is already over there, wasnt he going to leave the country two years ago when Bush got elected?

If it weren't for these ocassional press releases their publicists send out telling the World what they "feel" about issues, the rest of us would ignore them. On second though, that seems like the best response to this "flame bait" press release too. :)

If I were to garner a list of 100 retirees in the community where I live, would that mean as much as 100 celebrities from Hollywood? I could get a list of 100 farmhands also, I'm sure I could find a hundred who would support the USA in a war with Iraq.

THIS JUST IN:

We were able to obtain an advance copy of the letter. Here it is in its entirety:

Dear George Bush,

We hate you. Stop saying bad things about that country over there!

(Signed)
