In Bernard Goldberg's Bias , he mentions in some detail some truly horrific paternity fraud cases : In these cases, the accused father never even got the court papers telling them they were being sued for CS. In one case , the man's GF threw a tantrum and HID the court papers! In another, the papers were sent to a previous address, and were not forwarded. The men learned they'd been sued when the court began garnisheeing wages. Then they insisted on a paternity test , they were completely excluded-but because they'd 'failed to show', they'd been found guilty, and the earlier judgement was not vacated.

Looks like we're on the same track. If anyone accuses you of making up an absolutely unbelievable chain of events, refer them to Goldberg's Bias, which gives names, places , and dates of just such cases.

Requiring a man to *continue* paying child support for a child not his is wrong, isn't this against everything you have been complaining about in this thread?

Such a scenario would make a great movie. But in real life, you might have to hire a lawyer if you were such an object of fraud, and put up with a substantial nuisance before the issue was resolved. Be interested in a case of such a thing happening.

This thread rides a deep wave of emotion. Paranoid fantasy, theatrical visions of retribution, and tender male vanity. You think I'd miss out on such a good show?

Nice Post. You summed it up perfectly.
No man WITHOUT a vasectomy and proof of when it was done, is safe from this situation, and in some cases, might not be safe ANYWAY. "For the children".
To: BuddhaBoy
illegitimize a whole class of children Seems to me their mother's took care of them being illegitimate back when they were spreading their legs for someone other than their husband. I don't see how the courts can do anything more to illegitimize them... seems like "Mom" already took care of that one.
To: Mamzelle
If you can come up with some way to punish Mommy without punishing Child, please offer it. I can't think of one The same logic applies to all crimes. If a man commits a serious crime, and goes to prison, his children suffer the consequences (economic and otherwise) of not having him around.
If a man commits fraud (say, on Wall Street), nobody argues that he should be exempt from punishment if his kids would suffer while he's in jail. The universal reaction is, that's sad, but he should've thought of that before he committed the crime. Yet if a woman commits paternity fraud, somehow the needs of her children exempt her from jail!! How unfair.

You implied that BuddhaBoy's interest in this topic stems from his being cuckolded. We can ask/imply the same of you. Why are you so interested in this discussion? Have you ever played the part of the mother in this type of case?
To: Mamzelle
Nice to know it's purely entertainment for you.
You are as good with words as Trent Lott.

"fantasy, theatrical, retribution, tender vanity" My dear, you've just described the typical female on a normal day!

Paranoid fantasy, theatrical visions of retribution, and tender male vanityWhat a completely crude and cold thing to say. You are why I have always enjoyed the company of men more women. And I am a woman. You sound like you enjoy getting men riled up and I despise that.

"We don't want to illegitimize a whole class of children, and we don't want to impoverish a whole class of children," Stowe said. "We have to look at the greater good."What Stowe is too myoptic to see is that these children are already illegitimized.
To: BuddhaBoy
Now, that hurt. Maybe I should hold you responsible for Mary Landrieu!

re: men all riled up--
Welll--
If you get bent out of shape at "tender male vanity," when I've been listening cheerfully to all kinds of boasts about sexual prowess and contempt for women...
