I don't consider those kinds of shows real "talk radio" because politics is a secondary focus of theirs.
I'll bet their advertisers would agree. Shows like that generate huge listening audiences but rather unspectacular advertising revenue because they do so poorly among prized target audiences (professionals between the ages of 25 and 55).

Advertising to "dummies" in the mind-less drive-time slot by jocks who have nothing to say except trash an example is Tom Lykis. The audiance is made up of very shallow and uneducated kids. This is like South Park of radio but they get sponsors -- and there is always a new one -- with a slightly different brand of smut.
