As I know in third grade getting picked on by Fifth Graders (which were scary at the time) You Must Fight Back!, It was a big undertaking by me, but it worked! And all of a sudden they were my best Bud's. It's the only True Way IMHO....., Crying to the Teacher Ain't Gonna Work.......

"...proactive approach ... aimed at curtailing bullying..."
Take the bully down to the locker room and beat the dog f*** out of him. Whoops, silly me, this is the year 2002, and they obviously don't really want to curtail bullying.
My apologies to all the forward thinking educators out there...not.

"It is very different than it was 20 years ago," he said, explaining that bullies have become younger in recent years, effectively moving from the high and junior high schools to the elementary school level.
Wonder who funded this crap and how much you and I had to pay for it. Bullying has always existed since the start of time and the only way to combat it is to fight back. Only wish I had the confidence I have now back then. But then, that is what life's experiences are all about........

How to deal with a bully:
1. Stand up to him.
2. See (1)
Real complicated.

Funny you should mention this. Just this week my 8yr old girl was crying about getting soccer balls bounced off her head at recess. As usual, the adults don't give a s**t. Her 15yr old brother and I gave her some advice. She ended up punching the kid in the eye, and when she realized she didn't hit him hard enough, she smacked him in the nose. He hit the ground with that punch, and now he runs when he sees her. Hey, I've given this advice to all my kids. Teachers don't want to be bothered, don't depend on them to keep you safe. Kick ass and take names the first time, then you can enjoy school :)
