I view European moves toward increasing their military to be problematic.  Heaven forbid they actually have a way to counter US policy, instead of just pass wind on the subject.  As loopy as Europe's leaders are, if they ever attained rough parity with our forces, they'd most likely be stupid enough to challenge us in some quarters.  Sorry, but I don't give them more credit than this after listening to their verbal insults for decades.

I welcome their modest attempts at a bonified military.  Modesty in this area suits a continent just fine that has nearly self-destructed twice in the last 100 years.

What bothers me, and probably always will, is that they are are part of the West, yet don't seem to comprehend any issue that sees the US defending Western Civilization.  While the US gladly carries the water for them, much safer than watching them try, they sit back and carp about every single thing we do.  What single thing have we done that benefits the US more than Europe?  A stable world stage is good for everyone.  Whatever benefits us is most assuredly going to benefit them too.  Continually this escapes them.

Iraq isn't going to be a threat to the US first.  If he obtains nukes and missiles, they'll be in his sites first.  Duh.  What part of that do these imbeciles not understand?  Evidently every part of it!

I realize the UN hasn't the cranial electrical wattage to care about Midwestern threats to the world.  The UN can exist if 99% of the world's populace is wiped from the face of the planet.  It can move to whichever region is left and continue to act the part of the impotent evil dictator no matter.  Europe can't.  It would be nice to think that some day it will pull it's collective head out of it's netherlands.  I'm not holding my breath.

I "worry" about Europe only in the sense that they are self-destructing.

Europeans are slowly(?) disappearing due to their immigration policies.

EUnification will not work effectively because they are adding more and more layers of bureacracy on top of sovereign governments.

An EU military force will be an absolute joke (if they ever form one). Think of the basing, training, and logistical problems. Then think about the political process for funding.

If Europe ever becomes a "union", it will be a race between the Union of Soviet European Socialist Republics and a Eurabian Caliphate.

Heh.  It seems an earlier poster has already established
the 'bonified' nature of the Euroforces.  I think the
word you seek is 'bona fide.'

It's like having a bunch of in-laws over for the weekend...
