Your list sums up the reasons for tonight's disgraceful GOP losses. But, I would like to add one more factor to your list. It would be the weather. Today in LA, the weather was sunny but chilly. This does not depress 'RAT turnout as much as rain. On Nov. 5th, the Deep South was covered with rain showers. In fact, New Orleans had thunderstorms on that day. This may have depressed African-American turnout to enable Southern Pubbies like Perdue, Chambliss, Sanford, Graham, & Dole to win their races.
However, Landrieu's victory isn't just about African-American turnout. Proud Mary did surprising well in the rural parishes that Bush won in 2000 (i.e. Cajun parishes & LA-05). Terrell needed to win those parishes by the same margins as Bush did in 2000. Unfortunately, she fell short.

I have never bothered to try to figure out why, but bad weather in the south helps Republicans only in Texas and Louisiana. In the rest of the south it helps Democrats.

Landrieu's reasons for victory
1. She outworked her opponent
2. Like most Rats she found an issue that her state cared about and slammed her opponent on it. Sugar in this case
3. Said she supported a popular president
4. The weather and Donna Brazile, turnout was exactly the same as on Nov 5th and Dec 7th. I'm sure nobody expected that even though weather wasn't that good on Nov 5th.
Why does Ralph Reed need three weeks when Donna can do it in a couple of days?
5. Economic Data had to be released yesterday unfortunately, whether Bush fired O'Neill and Lindsay that would have been the big story yesterday.

African-Americans (why aren't they American Africans - are they Afrians first and foremost?) Anyway - mark this - they will always be a writeoff group for Repulicans. They have no idea what republicanism is. Chasing them is wasted effort. Look for smarter groups to expand the tent.
Intelligent blacks who have crossed over don't even call themselves African-Americans, and they vote as though they are individuals - not tribal voters. And they are treated that way. But elections are about building coalitions, and this group is so gone. Racism this - racism that - racism on and on and on and on. Shut the HELL up.
