WEB PERV NABBED WITH BOY By KIERAN CROWLEY and BILL HOFFMANN

NY POST 12/5/2002 HOLLEMAN: Predawn tryst in SUV. December 5, 2002 -- A perverted Long Island DJ chatted up a 15-year-old boy on the Internet and lured him to a sleazy sex tryst in a deserted parking lot, police said yesterday.

In what's every parent's nightmare, the boy had quietly slipped out of his house in Lindenhurst without his mom or dad knowing a thing.

His mother learned of her son's illicit meeting with a registered sex offender only when the cops delivered him back to her front door.

Kenneth Holleman, 44, of Massapequa Park - a self-employed DJ known for his clever mixing of nightclub hits - was charged with sodomy and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Detective Lt. James Maher said Holleman met his victim in an online chat room early Sunday.

After a suggestive talk, Holleman arranged to pick up the youth a few blocks from his residence.

Once the boy got into Holleman's vehicle, they drove to an empty parking lot in Copiague, where the abuse occurred, Maher said.

Two Suffolk cops passing by became suspicious of the lone SUV because the store next to it was closed and it was 4:45 a.m.

They approached the car and quizzed the pair, but both insisted nothing was going on.

After police drove the boy back to his parents' home, they discovered Holleman had prior arrests for possession of kiddie porn and was a registered sex offender.

They quickly reinterviewed the teen and learned he and Holleman allegedly had engaged in sexual activities.

Holleman was being held in lieu $1 million bail last night.

Prosecutors say he has three arrests in Nassau County for possessing kiddie porn - and pleaded guilty to one of them in July 2001 for a sentence of five years' probation and agreement to register as a sex offender.

"He's a pedophile. It was alert police work by the uniformed officers," said Maher. "The minor snuck out of his house. His mother was not aware he was out."

Holleman's lawyer, Thomas Liotti, said the arrest was a part of a sting and insisted his client hadn't touched the boy.

"I think he was possibly set up," Liotti said, adding that Holleman had worked numerous law-enforcement parties on Long Island over the years and was well-liked by cops and prosecutors.

Holleman, a DJ since 1980, has produced several successful disco mixes and is mentioned on rocker Cyndi Lauper's official Web site. He has been an organizer of the Long Island Gay Pride Parade.

Those Gay Pried organizers sure are busy! V's wife.

Nassau Man Charged With Abusing Boy

The car looked suspicious because it was in an empty Target parking lot in Copiague, long after the store had closed.

When Suffolk police pulled closer, about 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, they found Kenneth Holleman, 44, inside with a 15-year-old boy. Both were fully clothed, and denied impropriety. With an absence of evidence, police returned the boy to his parents, who never knew he had left their house in Lindenhurst, and Holleman was allowed to go.

Two days later, however, detectives confronted Holleman about the incident a second time, this time at his home at 131 Primrose Ave. in Massapequa Park, and arrested him on charges of third-degree sodomy and endangering the welfare of a child.

The case turned when detectives reinterviewed the boy, who is not being named because of his age. They also learned Holleman is a registered "Level Two" sex offender - meaning his name and address was given to "vulnerable entities," such as schools - who pleaded guilty in 1999 to having pornographic material of a child. He was arrested again in July in Nassau County on the same charge and that case is pending, said Rick Hinshaw, a spokesman for the Nassau County district attorney's office. The July arrest was a violation of a 5-year probation sentence set after the conviction for the 1999 offense.

Holleman's lawyer, Thomas Liotti of Garden City, insisted there was no sexual contact between the two when police found them on Sunday. They had met hours earlier in an Internet chat room, Liotti said, and the boy then called Holleman, who is single, lives by himself and works as a DJ. Holleman picked up the boy in his SUV near the boy's home.

"They met just to talk and see where it went from there," Liotti said. "But they hadn't gotten to the point where it went anywhere."

The boy told detectives, however, that he and Holleman had engaged in a sexual act inside the vehicle, First Squad Det. Lt. James Maher said.

Holleman was arraigned yesterday in First District Court in Central Islip and is being held at the Suffolk County jail on $1-million bail. His next court date is scheduled for Monday.
