Republicans overwhelming choice over Democrats on family values, integrity; Dems lead on tolerance, Zogby Post-Election Survey Reveals

A new poll conducted in 18 states and the District of Columbia reveals that in 17 of the states, Republicans are deemed by voters as better suited than Democrats on family values and integrity.

The Zogby Post-Election Poll, conducted by telephone November 7 –10, continues to look at how specific demographic groups voted in the Midterm elections, and why.19 State Post Election Report

The poll sampled 600 actual voters in 18 states and the District of Columbia. States polled were Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Georgia, Colorado, Michigan, North Carolina, Missouri, and Minnesota, Iowa, New Hampshire, Arkansas, California, and South Dakota.

Of those states, Democrats were judged clearly best suited to promote family values only in the heavily Democratic District of Columbia (Democrats 57%, Republicans 13%). Voters in Massachusetts were split (Democrats 36%, Republicans 35%). In every other state, Republicans were the clear choice to handle family values including California (Republicans 42%, Democrats 31%), Minnesota (Republicans 41%, Democrats 32%), and Texas (Republicans 56%, Democrats 25%).

Integrity

Republicans also are the overwhelming choice over Democrats in 17 states as the party that best represents integrity. Voters in D.C. (Democrats 52%, Republicans 14%) were the only ones polled who deem Democrats the best for handling integrity. Voters in Massachusetts (Democrats 34%, Republicans 32%) were split. Republicans were deemed best to handle integrity by voters in states including Florida (Republicans 43%, Democrats 29%), New York (Republicans 36%, Democrats 29%) and Colorado (Republicans 46%, Democrats 23%).

Tolerance

Democrats were the clear choice in 16 states and the District of Columbia as best suited to handle tolerance. In no state did voters choose Republicans as best representing tolerance. Voters in Louisiana (Democrats 41%, Republicans 42%) and Texas (Democrats 42%, Republicans 40%) were split.

Pollster John Zogby: “In the midst of a war on terrorism, tolerance could become a national issue and help the Democrats. However, as the party re-evaluates itself after its defeat in November, it needs to be looking at why it scores so low on family values and integrity, along with national security and the economy. So far, only the DLC appears to be concerned about the family values deficit. Losing the middle class, especially parents, could be devastating to the Democrats.” 19 State Post Election Report

"For each of the following issues, please tell which party you feel is better equipped to handle the issue - Democrats or Republicans?"

Amazing how he claimed it was a Democrat year before election. Now his polls show majority Americans see the Demorats for what they are.

i agree. his brother should be shipped out of the country to live in palestine. i think zogby lost alot of credibility this election. he was one of the worst out there. Only pollster as bad might be the one giving Laundrieu a sixteen point lead last week.

Louisiana as one state where voters tended to see the GOP equally tolerant bodes very well for Saturday's election.

Outside of treason, murdering near term babies, corruption, high taxes, and supporting evil lawyer vermin, the democrats stand for nothing.

As they say in "Noo Joisey":

Yo Zogby, poll this! (gesturing dramatically)

Why in the world is Zogby polling people on tolerance?

What exactly does he mean by tolerance?

What was the specific poll question concerning tolerance?

Did Zogby ask conservatives if liberals tolerate conservatives?

IMHO, when it comes to tolerance the liberals hardly understand what the word means. All I've seen is that their paramount role in life appears to be one of criticizing intolerance. Just look at how much they want to control of our lives. Just look at how they need to legislate from the bench in order to change, modify, our freedom and behavior because if they stood up and told us what they are all about no one would tolerate such lunacy.

It's interesting that New Jersey was left off of the list of states polled, considering that Florida, South Dakota, Missouri and Minnissota were included (all states with election "issues").

I wonder how Jerseyans would have altered the numbers.

Just got back from DU and someone posted a question asking if they thought Laundrieu would win. They all said no. They are a sad bunch in there.
