John, I know that... and I am happy enough that civilians are in charge, HOWEVER, there is nothing to say they can't have military experience and a LOT that says they SHOULD. AFTER service they can be politicians.... and I might even vote for one of them. But to want to LEAD your country without showing a willingness to put your life actually on the line for your country, well, that doesn't speak well of you to me!
