Just a small town boy. When I go to vote, they welcome me by my name as soon as I walk in the door. I'd never get away with it.

Can't we just move on? All these accusations of voter fraud do nothing to help us. <\sarcasm>

Get this - After he had already voted absentee, the reporter, Lou Salome, goes to his precinct and signs an oath that he had not yet voted, signed a voter roll list to get a card for electronic voting and the votes for the second time. And then after he gets busted for double voting, is a third-degree felony, he says "I was testing the county's procedures for stopping someone from voting twice"

And the State Attorney's Office says no - we are going to move ahead on this.

"...miraculously high registration and voting rates in bombed-out inner-city precincts..."

I need some solid evidence of this to settle a testy argument. Let me know if you can help.

The old geezer DIMs probably forgot that they voted already because they did not impregnate the chads this time, so they went back to vote again.

You may be on to something here. I'm not a DIM but I AM a geezer. And in my lifetime I've impregnated so many chads there's no way I can remember all of 'em.

Why, just the other day I was impregnating a chad and she said to me, "Hey, I remember you! Didn't you impregnate me once before in the 1968 election?"

Had to admit I did. Very embarrasing! But also comforting that she remembered.

I'd forgotten about the cigarettes-for-votes ploy! Our daugther is writing a paper for her English composition class on keeping the Electoral College. I talked with her about reasons why the EC should be kept, and one reason is that by apportioning votes by state, it tends to isolate or mitigate the impact of voter fraud, i.e., stuffed ballot boxes in Illinois only impacts the vote in Illinois -- voter fraud in that state doesn't impact the popular vote nationwide. I found an article from the Wall Street Journal someone posted in FR back in Feb. 2001, about voter fraud in 2000, to provide examples our daughter could use in her paper.

It's this kind of stuff (which was reported all over the US in 2000) that makes me question whether Algore really won the popular vote.

Al Gore did NOT win the popular vote. More than one study showed that once the networks started claiming Gore had it in the bag around 7:30pm Eastern, it didn't just cause Floridians in the Central Time Zone to give up and stay home, it did so for the entire rest of the country as well. The studies indicated that Bush probably lost somewhere between 2 and 3 MILLION votes out West as a result.

Don't forget voting prison inmates in Florida. It's a miracle Bush won.

And how many of these folks are Snow Birds who also voted by absentee ballot in their "home states" up north?

It is not fraud if you have a higher motive.

Oh, yeah, right, I forgot! : )

I'd like to see someone come up with an authoritative listing of all reports of voter fraud from the 2000 election. What I recall:

* The cigarettes-for-votes ploy among the homeless in (I think) Milwaukee.
* Students in Madison, Wisc., bragging they'd voted for Gore more than once.
* College students in Oregon selling their mail ballots (everyone in Oregon votes by mail) to Democratic Party operatives.
* Two days before the election, the polls showed California a toss-up, yet on election day, Gore won by well over a million votes. There were rumors of up to 2 million illegal immigrants on the voter rosters. A postman called an LA radio talkshow after the election to say that he delivered sometimes up to a dozen voter pamphets to the same address (this happened often) in L.A. County, and since it is his usual route, he KNEW that most of those people didn't live at that location.
* The case of the sympathetic judge in St. Louis who ordered the polls left open way beyond their required closing time (only to have her order overturned by another judge hours later).
* The case of prison inmates illegally voting in Florida.
* The case of inner-city precincts in Philadelphia that had a higher voter turnout than there were people living in those precincts.
* Not to mention the overt efforts to keep military absentees from overseas kept out of the count in Florida.

The Democrat Party is a cesspool of fraud. There is no way Al Gore won a plurality of the national vote in 2000.

Thanks for the heads up. They always say these people face up to 5 years in prison and $5,000 fines....they get 30 days and probabation with $189 in court costs....sickening.

Well, it may be worthwhile to keep track of those kinds of outcomes.....another compilation of initial charges v. what actually paid, i.e., jail time, restitution, etc.
