I don't see a problem with secession whatsoever. My only issue is 'why split in 2?' I believe the optimal number of 'splinters' would be 50 not 2. Or, even better, let's get the Feds out of our states and out of our personal lives. The Federal Gov't powers are prescribed by the Constitution and let's begin by limiting the Feds to what the Constitution says, no more.

The first steps on this path would be a massive reduction in Federal taxes, perhaps 70% or so, making sure that the Feds stay occupied with defending the borders, making sure that nothing impedes interstate commerce, that kind of stuff. The Fed tax reduction will be, of course accompanied by the elimination of all Federal 'programs' that were 'given' to the people by our bleeding-hearts do-gooding libs. The Fed tax breaks will be most certainly offset by increases in State and local taxes - but this is were our voices can be heard better than in D.C.

So... yes, I agree. We should start the process. And... no thanks, no need for Canada at this time.
