W A S H I N G T O N, Dec. 4 National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice praised a group of Muslim female lawyers Wednesday for their work in human rights, saying their efforts were vital in helping those oppressed by religious bias around the globe.
She told about 60 members of Karamah that the human rights organization "is a constant reminder that millions of Muslims contribute to all walks of American life from education to science, law, business, public service." Karamah educates people about Islam and advocates Muslim women's rights. Calling Islam a great religion, Rice said people should not be treated unfairly because of their skin color, ethnic background or religious faith. She noted there are many struggles under way around the world, including the fight against terrorism. "As human beings we know that on every continent, in every culture, people given the choice between tyranny and peace, will choose peace," she said. Rice said that democracy requires constant work, adding that it has been a continuous struggle even in the United States to live up to all the principles of democracy "Democracy is a journey not a destination," Rice told them after a feast-breaking dinner during Ramadan. Marked by fasting from sunrise to sunset, Ramadan ended Wednesday. Rice was presented with the Quran, the Muslim holy book. President Bush planned to give an address Thursday at an Islamic center in Washington. |
What Women's Rights do Mohammadan women have? That Abdool has to put on boxing gloves before he smacks his harem around?
Yeah right....more like when given the choice between having the shiite bombed outta them and peace
......... then, sure they choose peace..better to stay alive and be able to plan your next move..
Wasn't Rice the one who was "sleeping at the switch" and allowed 9/11 to occur?
Now is anyone for Rice for VP in '04?
No, she was hardly sleeping at the switch, and to suggest she "allowed 9/11 to occur" is ridiculous.
"Democracy is a journey not a destination," Rice told them after a feast-breaking dinner during Ramadan. Marked by fasting from sunrise to sunset, Ramadan ended Wednesday.
We live in a republic, not a democracy---thank God.
Democracy sucks...it's nothing more nor less than mob rule. That's why the Founders of the United States rejected it as a form of government.
Rice was presented with the Quran, the Muslim holy book.
Hope she reads it...might be a real eye-opener for her.
Speaking to Muslim women favorably about Islam is on a par with speaking to a group of Auchwitz survivors about the glories of National Socialism.
It's not only ridiculous, it's dangerous.
What's the under/over? I might take some action on the bet.
Besides the Clinton team that was out of office almost 9 months, who do you blame?
NO! Just a RAT.
I am: Tuco Benedito Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez, known as the Rat
Geez - I don't know who was advising Rick, but the mere fact of Rick "invading Hillary's space" during the debate, lost Rick whatever chance he had of winning the election.
Since "who" would be almost the entire world, I understand why I'm so tired doing the "bunny" hop.
She told about 60 members of Karamah that the human rights organization "is a constant reminder that millions of Muslims contribute to all walks of American life from education to science, law, business, public service."
While no sane person could or should argue with the last clause of this statement, the first part is certainly debatable.
The Soviet Union was 'great', as was Hitler's Germany.
But if she, by saying that it is 'great', means that Islam is in any way 'good', then she is either delusional or totally disingenuous.
