Someone on FR needs to keep a log of the nuttiest comments, and perhaps give a weekly award to the nuttiest of the nutty.
(Sometimes I sincerely think people start posting on FR before realizing that they didn't get to the DU site like they were intending to.)

So what about the gay men on DU who applauded the murder? Were they hate-filled?Yes.
To: DWSUWF
Queers that feel the hammer poised to strike them are better behaved than this. Not that you're advocating the use or threat of violence against queers, of course.

Homosexuality is a mental illness, Unless it's two hot chicks getting it on, right?

"...Not that you're advocating the use or threat of violence against queers, of course..." LOL!
If I was, you wouldn't have to ask.
No, I'm more of a turn-my-back-and-mind-my-own-business kind of guy where it comes to queer bashing, caped crusader.

Well, at least you're fair.
To: DWSUWF
I didn't ask and you clearly are sympathetic to the threat of violence to keep them queers "better behaved." So when it comes to violent "queer bashing", you're a "not my problem" kind of citizen. Nice guy.

FYI...looks like O'Reilly decided to cover this story.

OK. I wanted to clarify because there are many different views of hate crimes. Some folks say that any murder is a driven by some sort of hate. Hate drives the Crime so I can buy that it is a hate crime, but not a Hate Crimemeaning that some murders are more heinous and deserving of special prosecution and punishment based on the race or sexual orientation of the perpetrator (or victim). I think that makes pretty good sense.
What doesnt make sense is to claim that there is hate (constituting a Hate Crime) when a heterosexual kills a homosexual, but it isnt hate when it happens that a homosexual kills a heterosexual.
PS Im not buying your claimed lack of knowledge on the Sheppard case. Perhaps you are not accurately representing yourself due to fear of being removed from FR. Am I wrong?

Nothing to be proud of, guy.
To: CapedCrusader
"...Nothing to be proud of, guy..." I shouldn't be proud of being, as you say, a 'nice guy'?
I don't understand...

You're coy, too. Charming.
To: Diago
Well the lack of media coverage was deafening. I first learned of this murder here on FR. I did watch O'Reilly also. My thoughts? I don't have any due to lack of comprehensive information. She spoke to him because he was gay and then he murdered her. O'Reilly didn't offer enough information. I simply don't understand what happened.

You're correct, homosexuality is something to be ashamed of, never proud of.
