Would a true patriot not get the procedure done himself? Just a thought.

If he wanted to enlist, sure, he could have fixed it. Not enlisting isn't the same as avoiding service.

And assuming I'm right that this was in the 70-71 time frame, his draft board would have called him back in 6 mo or a year later (I assume these thinks don't always last forever).

Wonder if he's lurking here, laughing his cyst off?

Look, I don't care if he did or did not serve. I would just have a bit more respect for the man if he would just come out and say: "Thank God, I got out of going to Vietnam." As many others did. I can't say I would not have tried every thing posible to avoid Vietnam. I just don't know.
