Democrats, whose grip on the news and public opinion has finally been wrested from them now shake their fists in anger and hypocritically denounce conservatives for personal attacks on public figures, all the while ignoring their own long history of character assassination of figures like Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich and the current President Bush.

Never thought I'd ever read that in the Wash Post.

Holy smokes, kristinn! When I first read the posting I thought the WashingtoComPost actually wrote that first, and subsequent, paragraphs! But then I noticed the "self" in the link LOL.

However, I still believe these people (Bubba and Hitllary) are extremely dangerous and we have to closely monitor what they are doing. I don't trust 'em as far as I can smell Ol' Crusty!

Returning from a trip to Mexico, indeed. Now, wasn't W or Powell just down there? What the hell is this piker doing? He has to keep his bulbuous nose in the limelight, either preceeding W, or following him, or members of his Cabinet, around the world.

Seems to me that what he is doing is still trying to rally his troops for '04 and beyond by doing this. I'm still quite wary of these two ... not afraid, very afraid -- YET, but quite wary.

Thus endeth my not-so-'umble screed.

Thanks for the post!

The days when the political agenda could be controlled by the Democrats with a well-placed story in The New York Times that was echoed on C-SPAN's Washington Journal and then trumpted on the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather are over. By the time Dan Rather gets around to it, the Democrats' planted story has been dissected and exposed as B.S. (Barbra Streisand) on the internet by posters at Free Republic, on the radio by Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and by an opinion piece at the National Review's website,NRO.com.

Later that evening on cable, while dinosaurs Phil Donahue and Larry King founder on the shoals of irrelevancy at MSNBC and CNN, respectively, the firebrands at Fox News will draw twice as many viewers by putting the final nails into the coffin of the news story planted by the Democrats in The New York Times that morning.

Great rundown of the paradigm shift in the news business which has occurred during the past decade.

Bump. And go apply for a job. We might as well take over ALL the news outlets now that we've on the move. :-)

>>Disgraced former President Bill Clinton, the first president to cop a plea with a prosecutor while in office, be found in contempt of court and impeached for lying under oath and obstructing justice, and a man who has been credibly accused of numerous rapes and sexual assaults from his college days through his terms as President of the United States, gave a post-election address to the Democratic Leadership Council at New York University yesterday where he let slip the fact that the Democratic Party has the establishment press on its side.

That's pretty good humor as it relates to the topic !!!

Democrats, whose grip on the news and public opinion has finally been wrested from them now shake their fists in anger and hypocritically denounce conservatives for personal attacks on public figures..."

One missing word. It should say "...whose [total] grip on the news and public opinion has been [partially] wrested from them....".

Nice writing, kristinn. Are you an essayist, or do you play one on TV? I keep wondering if the constant drumbeat against the "elite" media will make them less "elite". I sure hope so.

Clinton, in remarks that reinforce the theory that recent scathing criticism about conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh and right-leaning newspapers like The Washington Times and Wall Street Journal from fellow out-of-power Democrats Sen. Tom Daschle (S.D.) and former Vice President Al Gore are part of a coordinated campaign to demonize media critics while excusing the poor performance of the Clinton-led Democratic party in last month's elections, was quoted by The Washington Post as saying, "(The Republicans) have an increasingly right-wing and bellicose conservative press, and we have an increasingly docile establishment press."

Isn't it amazing how simply having a choice in the press is so threatening to the liberals! You can't make people watch any of these shows, unless, in a manner the libs have enjoyed for years, you monopolize the media. Then people are forced to watch. People are watching Fox and listening to Rush and Sean because the want and choose to. Nobody is doing a "Clockwork Orange" brainwashing routine on them.

Time to admit your message is old, boring, and worn out, my lefty friends!!

Best line: the cable TV juggernaut Fox News. You have to love that!

Why don't we all face the facts, stop mincing words and accept reality here? That the "Establishment Press" is nothing more than a "Propaganda" tool for the Liberals, Socialists and other "Progressives" (LOL) of the Democratic Party. Period. With few exceptions.

The biggest power to defeat these losers is the Internet, of which it's usage access and content must NOT be restricted in any way, shape or form, else it's the end for all of us who take pride in our freedoms, our right of choice, and our right to communicate ideas with others. We all must fight to keep it free only because it appears that the Democrats want to destroy it, and this we cannot permit.

I agree with the Conservatives when they say "Keep It" when it comes to the Establishment press. Who Needs it? We just have to ensure that we maintain the few footholds we have and keep the Internet free and accessible to all (and get the message out that if you want free unfettered info then the web is where to go) and the power of the lefties will diminish over time.

However, when it comes to Hollywood and the entertainment industry, that domain is completely hopeless. This is an area of major concern for the nation since most of what it "markets" at times is pure garbage and most of it's programming is so left wing that it moves around in circles!

Good Job!

"(The Republicans) have an increasingly right-wing and bellicose conservative press, and we have an increasingly docile establishment press."

The effort now under way is to light a fire under their propaganda machine, a machine that has become gun shy because of falling ratings and income. To overcome this, the Demcrats are urging their mouthpieces to follow them even further to the left. That is fine and dandy where politics is concerned but not so good when free enterprise, the bottomline, enters the picture.

The democrats are urging their propagandists to ignore the money loss and stay loyal. They are urging blacks to ignore broken promises and remain loyal. They are urging their extremists of all stipes (feminists, gays, Greens, NAACP, etc.) to become shriller.

I guess that they haven't noticed that they themselves have become an endangered species.

He lamented that Democrats somehow managed to propose a homeland security agency.....

This is another Democrat lie, sorta, that should be exposed. When Bush appointed Tom Ridge to be head of Homeland Security it was going to be a Cabinet position. The Democrats were dying to get at Ridge and the whole idea of homeland security but he refused to appear before them and he didn't have to. So, Sen. Byrd I think it was, said let's make this a new department and that way Ridge will have to come before the Senate, meaning the Democrats, for confirmation. Well, that seems to be the basis for their claim as authors of the idea of a Homeland Security Dept., although I understand Joe Lieberman had a big hand in writing the bill.
