A MILLION Americans will be given smallpox vaccinations under the first wave of a mass inoculation order being prepared by President Bush. The initial stage of the decision would see 500,000 military personnel and 510,000 civilian medical workers receive the jab.

A second step would involve up to ten million frontline workers such as police, the emergency services, and other healthcare staff who would be the first to respond to a bioterrorism attack.

The smallpox vaccine would then be made available to any member of the public who wanted one, although it would be accompanied with warnings of the health risks involved and would not be recommended by the authorities.

Mr Bush is expected to publish the details in the next few days after months of agonising. One to three people in the initial wave of one million recipients are likely to die from side-effects of the vaccine, according to estimates by health experts, and dozens of others will contract life-threatening illnesses.

However, Mr Bush has been persuaded that the risks from a bioterrorism attack on US soil are too dangerous to ignore. If there were an outbreak of the highly contagious disease, some 30 per cent of those affected would die and many survivors would be left blind or disfigured, health experts say.

Dick Cheney, the Vice-President, has been the driving force behind preventive vaccinations. Since the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attacks, Mr Cheney has frequently voiced fears that the US was underprepared for a bioterrorism attack.

The wrangle within the White House over the decision to reintroduce vaccinations has been complicated by changing patterns of healthcare which have increased the danger of harmful side-effects for millions of Americans.

Those being treated for cancer or Aids, or who have had courses of drugs which have impaired their immune systems, would be ruled out, even though they would be most at risk of contracting the disease.

France is preparing to administer smallpox vaccinations to an undisclosed number of emergency medical teams, including military and civilian doctors, nurses, drivers, helicopter pilots and administrators.

The Government has also given orders for the preparation of a vaccination programme that would immunise the whole population within two weeks. The Health Ministry said that details of the vaccination plan, drawn up as a precaution against bioterrorism, would remain secret.

The Canadian Government is planning to vaccinate about 500 frontline medical workers, doctors, nurses, and laboratory technicians before the end of the year.

The Government is also negotiating with the pharmaceutical firm Aventis to buy ten million doses of smallpox vaccine, at a cost of about £16 million, which health authorities believe would be enough to immunise the entire country.

President Bush will be announcing his plan to protect America from Small pox this week. His plan entails near universal Small Pox immunization. And should protective his Nation for at least 20 years!

President Bush’s plan will start with the immunization of a million soldiers and health care workers. And President Bush’s orders for obtaining 200,000,000 doses of Small Pox Immunizations for the rest of the population has been reached. The second step in Bush’s plan will be the protection of the rest of his nation.

You have to wonder if the leftist Anti-American and Liberal Democrats who have fought and maligned every thing that Bush has done, will refuse to accept Bush’s immunizations because of their principles.

Oh I forgot that the “people of the lie” have no principles. So the liberal moral weaklings will probably push their way into the front of the line. Even as they are planning demonstrations to further undermine their nation.

The Socialist President of Canada is NO MORON EITHER he has been able to get 500 (FIVE HUNDRED DOSES of small pox vaccine FOR HIS NATION.

Maybe he could call his leftist friend in Germany and get some more vaccine! OH TOO BAD the Socialist Chancellor was too busy calling Bush a Nazi to get any immunizations for his people. BUT no worry, no more than a third of the patients who get small Pox are expected to die. That shouldn’t be any more than 50,000,000 German deaths. They are too smart to go to a MORON or a NAZI for help.

When President Clinton was in England in college, and led the protest against American capitalism by leading a mob in it’s attack on the American embassy. I bet he never thought that a Cowboy from Texas would end his dream of making America another socialist state! But then how would Clinton have been able to understand the hidden strengths of men who believe in God.

Actually, a slight correction: I would certainly get vaccinated in the event (however slim) of an actual smallpox attack.

They don't know, and in fact it is quite unlikely -- but not impossible -- that Saddam has smallpox in his doomsday deterrent plan. But, better safe than sorry, plus it's good conditioning for dealing with the real issue, which is of course anthrax. That is something we can't talk about too much yet because (a) unlike smallpox, we still can't do anything about it, and (b) if we talked about it, people would soon connect the dots with 9-11 and Saddam, and that wouldn't be a very happy state of affairs, now, would it?

Dear Logic,

The reason America was not informed about the risk of Small Pox is that, what good would it have done to terrify the American people BEFORE you could do anything to protect them.

All the while for the last year Americas Infectious disease specialists have been working on plans to attack the problem should it arise.

First AMERICA was the only nation on earth that had preserved a hundred million doses of vaccine all of these years frozen. Thanks to Ronald Reagan.

The other main preserve of vaccine was the UN health agency also had 100 million doses in Brussels but they threw it away 15 years ago rather than spend the money to keep it frozen.(the cost was an estimated $100,000 dollars to help protect the world should an out break occur.

The problem was that the Soviet Union grew 2 tons of Small Pox virus (Enough to infect half of the worlds population.



But it looks like some of their weaponized virus was sold or stolen.

Bush didn’t order this billion dollar (plus) project unless he knew that there was a good chance Sadam or some other malignant element had gotten some of the Virus.

If Sadam or Osama hit the US tomorrow with Small pox. Plans are now in place to immunize virtually all of the American people through our nations general MDs and internists.

And if you decide not to get the shot, the fact that your neighbors do, profoundly decreases your chances of catching the disease..

People with immune deficiencies are at more risk from the vaccine than a possible pandemic.

There are several types of pox diseases.

Giving a dose of COWPOX ,an entirely different disease than small pox, is what is used to immunize against Smallpox.

But Cowpox it is a close enough relative to Small Pox, that it gives you immunity to small pox.

SO IT IS IMPOSABLE TO GET SMALL POX FROM A COWPOX VACCINE.

The LAST REPORTED CASES WERE IN India OVER 25 YEARS AGO. SINCE THEN THE ONLY POSSIBLE VICTIMS WERE DOCTORS WORKING ON LIVE VIRUS!

Yes some people (very very few ) will die from the inoculation. They are predicting 1 out of a million.

But if the disease were to attack an un-immunized populous, we might have 30 or 40 million people die.
(See the book “Pox Americana” a study of the Small pox epidemic that ran across an un-immunized America from 1778 to 1784. It took so long to run it’s course because travel was so slow. Today it would race across the country a hundred times faster.

The vaccine used is made of Cowpox a very very mild illness. It is what left the small white dot scar on your parent’s arms.

But some people (Aids patients for example) may not be able to survive even a very mild illness.

14 days after you get your shot (Maybe even 7 days) you are immune to Small pox.

So if Sadam hit New York City next Monday. We would all go to centers around the country and get our shots.(Just like we all take part of a day out to go to vote). Actually voting centers have been considered since most Americans know where to go. But civil defense will announce where you would go.

Yes the people originally hit with the attack would have a 33% chance of dying. But the other 99.8% of the American population would be saved.

How would Bush respond to a Smallpox attack on the United States by Sadam.

It is my understanding that Sadam has been told, that it would be considered the same as a nuclear attack and we would respond with a nuclear response.

Which would, over an 8 hour period, end the existence of the nation of Iraq.

It is Chaney, Bush, Rummy’s et all feeling that an announced plan of an overwhelming response would act as a deterrent to an attack on the continental US.

There is evidence that old smallpox vaccines would still be very (but not completely) effective against the spread of the disease. A signficant percentage of the population might be protected even from a first wave of exposure, which would at least slow spreading for that first period of time.

Democrats are a strange bunch especially their leaders. They complain about politics of personnel destruction when that is how they try to divide the country. They have little pride in America, it seems that the American people serve for their pleasure only. If you don't cotton to the democratic line, you aren't American. They used the surplus for other countries and other people when there was much to do here at home. They take our best technologies and sell them to nations that will use the knowledge against us. They lack an enormous amount of integrity and don't seem to care as they flaunt sleazy ethics and morality in our faces.

We didn't have a government for the people under the Clinton administration, what we had was a Democrats Only need apply type of government and now they are attempting to replace a People's Government with their tired old arguments about an education system they didn't fix in 8 years, a health care program they messed up and couldn't fix in 8 years, a social security system they say needs fixing and did nothing about it in 8 years when in reality that system is fine as long as lawmakers don't spend the money that social security is meant for; they spent 8 years hiring federal workers with no qualifications as long as it meant a democratic vote leaving behind a dumbed down, bloated army of sleazy federal laborers who have plundered their departments of millions in dollars and equipment.

Democrats seem to have no respect, no real base from which true justice can spring, only justice that bends for them. They have no enthusiasm for country/nation, no pride, just the spoils from a rich nation for the DNC. They continue to huddle with shady and corrupt people both here in America and abroad for reasons that only benefit them. They are elitists and exclude the real Americans as they race for the Marxist Utopia they have dreamed about...where individual successes are discouraged in favor of a commune like population. They have learned nothing from failed socialism or failed communism; they still want to live like kings all the while painting a glowing picture of togetherness for the masses who work for them. It is called Slavery, servitude to a few at the top, domination over the people through higher taxes and rules and regulations. So the way that I read it is that, out of the initial wave of one million recipients, from one to three people will die as a result of the vaccine. Not too bad ... what is that ... about 0.0001 percent ... one-one millionth?
