I know nothing about the Calgary Sun, but the folks from Calgary are conservative, rational people. After all, with that rodeo they have every year, you'd think they were from Texas.

Actually a number of families in the Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan region are descended from American immigrants. The last wave of immigration was in the 1920's, when Americans from the midwest migrated north. So it isn't surprising that they have a more conservative bent than other Canadians.
