You know whats really horrifying here? Why hasn't the DNC come out and condemned these acts of vandalism as contrary to the American way of life? Haven't heard many Dems on the issue either, huh? Thats because at their hearts...the democrats totally AGREE with these home grown green terrorists. AL GORE said as much in his BOOK! His ultimate goal is to remove the term "internal combustion engine" from the world lexicon.
Make no mistake the movement to ban SUV's is far more sinister and far reaching than what these idiots are being portrayed as. See....(thoughtfully and firmly adjusting the frequency on my tin foil hat) it's all about control. On one level, it's about gun control. No ability to go far afield and reach the hunting grounds? No way to haul out the meat? NO MORE "SPORTING NEED" to own a hunting rifle...no more hunting. NOW those bolt action rifles suddenly become....ta-DAHHHHH "SNIPER RIFLES!"
Want to control a large measure of the population in their travel habits...keep track of them...check on their intrastate travel papers? BAN the 4X4 vehicle and instantly the backwater gulleys and rutted country roads become impassable and thus it is much easier to control the movement of an entire population. Imagine the places HUMMER owners (Or the far more affordable HUMMER2!) could get to to go around a nice easy roadside checkpoint for "Your PAPERS...PLEASE!"
BTW, Those babies (H2) are going to blow the standard Suburban right off the map. It's already happening here in Miami, FL...where nobody takes their SUV's and trucks off the pavement anyway. At least not until they go on vacation in North Carolina! LOL I have had the opportunity to test drive H2 and it is certainly impressive...even along side it's more capable big brother.
