What in the heck is a zeitgeist? An acne-suffering ghost? Sorry, but my german isn't very good - the only word I know is Gudentight, which I believe means 'Virgin'...

"Zeitgeist" means "the spirit of the age," or "conventional wisdom writ large," etc. German has the knack for distilling a whole lot into one word.

I believe you've been misinformed. When I was in the Air Force, I had the honor and priviledge of working as liaison with the German Air Force. It was there that I learned that when working on German jet engines, the amount of torque applied to aircraft fasteners was called "gudentight."

Re zeitgeist, Intellectual AlGore has been spending a lot of time demonstrating his vocabulary so he can speak of more that lock boxes and Dingell Norwood: Consider -

For now, Mr. Gore can only attempt to explain what motivates the ceaseless lampooning he continues to face from America’s columnists and commentators. "That’s postmodernism," he offered. "It’s the combination of narcissism and nihilism that really defines postmodernism, and that’s another interview for another time, if you’re interested in it.

What an ass.
