Could it be that Muhammed Ali is Muslim and didn't kill 3000 people Nah he just beat them up and thought he was God's gift to the earth.
Regardless of the sects involved, they HAVE to stand up and condemn this, but they don't because they FEAR the repercussions. If they fear the repercussions now, what happens when orthodox Islam puts the pressure on to conform? Methinks many of them *will* conform rather than face their fear. It's human nature. If they turn their back on their "church" they feel they risk eternal hellfire. Conforming is far better in comparison.
Besides, being killed in Jihad is a guarantee of paradise.
For once, someone who speaks reasonably besides Ann. Thank you. And I do agree. Many are afraid. The parallels here are not too far off medeival Catholic treatment of Christian sects that spoke out against Catholicism. There was a level of fear among some who would not speak out - those that did were wiped out ruthlessly. I think the Muslims in this case just need the moral support from others to allow them to stand up and condemn it without fear of retalliation or the ability to defend themselves.
It isn't much different than the ideological war going on here between conservatives and liberals. Thank god only words are being exchanged here.
