All Mexican trucks are subjected to inspection by U.S. authorities when they cross the borderAll trucks coming over the border are not checked, even after Sept 11, 2001, less than one out of six trucks are checked at all. Many trucks are loaded with illegal drugs or are smuggling immigrants and they manage to get through quite easily now, they're slowed down because they have to drop the drugs off at warehouses and then they get on other trucks. The illegals usually congregate in a motel room or other place until they can get transportation to points beyond the border.

[It looks like Fox and his comrades made the right threats. Bush seems to be knuckling under their pressure. I wouldn't be surprised now if they get "the whole enchildada" as they've demanded.]
I have not doubted that since 3 months into his presidency. If it hadn't been for 9/11 - it would have happened already.

and Mexico doesn't want any bad PR on trucking so they have jumped thru the hoops. Have the Mexican truck drivers learned even a minimal amount of English as part of their "jumping thru hoops" or is the ability to read US road signs considered unimportant? Will the foreign drivers be tested for competency in basic simple English even to protect American lives?

Bush seems to be making concessions after concessions to Fox and the rest of the Mexican government and it seems we're asking for nothing at all in return. We're to give up our jobs, allow unrestricted immigration, provide complete access to the entire USA to Mexico but do we get anything in return? And why not?

Bush is wrong on this.
Michael Savage is right...borders, language, culture...
we're losing the battle.
To: Eric Esot
The U.S. lacks sufficient capabilities to monitor border traffic. Currently, only 1 percent of the 4 million Mexican trucks entering the U.S. are inspected. Many of these only involve only a cursory "walk-around" inspection.

[Yup. that`s what Bush wants to do alright, destroy America`s middle class. Geeeeeee, you ought to be running the country ]
Well, whether he wants to or not - that is what is happening.
But let me ask you what exactly do you think President Bush is encourage illegal immigration - pushing for amnesty - pushing the trucks - pushing H1B workers - just what is his agenda. That is a serious question. I know he is not expecting these people to vote Republican - that is just laughable. So what?

I don't have a clue - truly I don't. I have given a lot of thought to this since it became apparent what his primary agenda was - Mexico - and I just don't know.

"sometimes ya just gotta grab the horse by the tail, and face the situation." You're a cityboy, right? Believe me, you're not gonna like anything that happens on that end of a horse when you grab it by the tail. Just warning you while you still have a face to face situations with.
I believe the expressions you might be looking for are 'bull by the horns', or 'tiger by the tail'. Neither one of those would be a real good idea, either. ;^)

I think he is describing our President, in regards to this instance.
