The ACLU asked the Justice Department for the number of times it has asked libraries or bookstores for lists of purchases or for the identities of those who have bought certain books; how many times law enforcement officials have entered people's homes without letting them know until later; how many times they have approved phone traces of people not accused of any crimes; and how many times they have investigated Americans for writing letters to newspapers, attending rallies or other First Amendment-protected activities. This will be interesting, along with the ratio of redactions to information released.

I guess this may give the ACLU a little good PR while they take a short sabbatical from their all out war on freedom of religious expression..

Bob Barr is on Gibson's show denouncing the Patriot Act as an invasion of privacy. He ripping the FBI leadership a new one calling them inconsistent and incompetant.

While not the best messenger, the ACLU seems to have gotten one right. They do that every genereation of so.
No sane person can like this piece of un-American garbage.
Well the freedom hating sociopathic cowards like it, but they're not sane.

As much as it pains me to say anything good about the American Criminal Liberties Union, it seems like they're good for something after all.Anyone who will fight the abominable USA Patriot Act or the not to be sufficiently damned Homeland Security Act, can't be all bad.
The Republicans voted in mass, for the two most vicious attacks on the Constitution in history and now, we must depend on the ACLU to defend us. What's wrong with this picture? It's enough to make a conservative sick.

ACLU Sues Over PATRIOT ActI'm just so CONFLICTED!!!
Can I root for both to get gutted by the court? ;^)

I've come to the conclusion, the only way back to anything resembling the Founding Fathers' dream is through the state and federal courts. Politicians and Party's are self-serving. The legislative branch is broken and the executive branch is prone to usurping power. Joesixpack and Soccormom want the NFL and The Bachelor, not liberty. Bring on the lawsuits...

Hey Bushbots: IS BOB BARR A TRAITOR NOW?
He's helping them.
He believes the act to be a threat to freedom, also.
He is not grovelling at the feet of Bush.
Well?????

And I'm the latest lottery winner, and can fly.

The most interesting thing that they are asking for- the use of sec. 215 warrants- is reported to the congress semiannually anyway.
Oh well, this won't hurt.
And the facts will calm those with honest worries about this law.
